Post the serial number up and we will be able to date your machine with a reasonable degree of accuracy. We would certainly be able to tell if it was under 5 years old. If it is over 5 then a local independent engineer would be advisable. By the sounds of it your machine will have gone past a simple ( not actually simple on these machines ) bearing repair and will more than likely need a rear drum half and drum support.

Click the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help. I do this repair for around £120 on average, dependant on parts required.

Re: Hotpoint TC71P Condenser dryer question

Once you have it up and running, take care not to stop the machine when it is hot, just to check on the clothes, always allow the ten minute cool down to take place. Clean the condensor at regular intervals, if you can, a pressure washer in the back garden is ideal, clean the door filter after every load.

PS. Handle the new stats with care, avoid pressing on the base of the stats. If you press the base in on the ‘one shot’ safety stat, it will be permanently damaged.

Fair point Martin, however in his last post he is offering his 7kg Samsung to any takers. This is not a brand that I am familiar with but how long have they been selling a 7kg machine? Also the thread heading does say, ‘ six month old washing machine’.

No, drum front felt seal completely adrift, you can see it hanging down the side of the drum. The customers original complaint was, poor drying, back of cabinet getting very hot and the walls at the back dripping with condensation.

I guess there is, but I’m damned if I can see it, unless its fuzzy logic. :rolls:

Re: Ariston A1636s, wheres the filter?

This is a Hotpoint based machine as opposed to an Indesit one. There is no easily accessible filter as such. There is a sump hose with a plastic cage for catching coins etc that can become clogged. Requires removal of back panel, then an internal hose. Plug out if you attempt to do this.

However, if the machine appears to be emptying correctly then I would leave it alone.

Had a Hotpoint VTD00 yesterday, 18 months old with the later bronze type rear bearing worn right through. 😥
