You didn’t go to the last meeting Martin, wonder if you might have missed something. 😉

PCB failure can cause constant stat failure. You will normally see the heater neon illuminated as soon as you select a programme, before you start the machine if this is the case.

I do not understand why EMW or QER will not repair these modules, I am sure it is only a sticking heater relay.

Sorry, a gap in my current info on that model, hopefully johhnyj or indespoint may be able to help.

To be honest, its hardly a spin, the ‘surge’ wash on my WMA63 is 90 rpm.

You should be getting an error code displayed by a sequence of flashing Options neons. Faults without error codes are supposed to indicate O/C motor or wiring.

We cannot go into blow by blow accounts of repair techniques for legal and safety reasons, we will try and guide you, particularly guide you away from making silly or dangerous mistakes, but you do need a certain level of competance and the correct tools. A bearing change on these machines is not much fun, even for experienced engineers.

PS. Are you in the Exeter area? if so one of the Admin staff here at UKWG’s, Dave Conway ( you will see his posts all over the spares forum) is local to you. He should be able to put you in touch with one or two highly qualified, reputable people who will do the job properly for you.

Have a read of this first before you go further, the whole drum has to be removed. As stated several times in that thread, a very difficult job, not to be undertaken lightly.

NB. you do not need to ‘take the machine apart’ to check the bearings, if you spin the drum by hand and it doesn’t make any obvious noise then the bearings will be fine.

An experienced engineer would be able to check 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of drum bearings just by opening the door and lifting, then spinning the inner drum.

    Re: Indesits spinning during wash

This ‘speed wash’ has been used for years on some machines. I believe Indesit were given an award for their effort. Sad really when you think that the old Hoover, Softwave,New wave machines did this many years before.

Spin in the drying cycle is also a normal part of the programme on those machines. If you change a hybrid control unit on the last of the WM based Hotpoint washer dryers the new unit comes with instructions to advise the customer of the spin on tumble dry action.

Throws you a little when you see it for the first time though. 😀

One place you could check, after you have removed the plug of course, is the wiring harness for breaks, down near the left hand hinge.

Just done some checking and in fact the large jubilee clip was used on full size machines. Mainly 68**,71***,78** models.

Re: Hotpoint VTD00 fire hazard ?

As a postscript to this, I fitted a new duct assy and seal. The old duct was in such a mess that it would have taken far to long to clean it sufficiently to be able to accept a new seal. The really annoying part was that the new seal came with detailed instructions on how to ‘carefully remove’ the backing from the felt seal, unfortunately it was just like the last two or three felts seals from Hotpoint that I have received, that is to say that almost half of the backing strip and the adhesive had already come adrift of the seal. I had to fit the seal and apply a small amount of Debhor adhesive between the seal and duct to secure it in several places. 😥

    Jim.

PS. I think this should be posted in the thread regarding ‘senior moments/stupid mistakes’ but I reassembled it then found the four plastic bearing pads on the worktop behind me. I have been under a little stressed out ATM, at least that is my excuse. 😳

I have seen the huge jubilee clips on the slimline version of Bosch produced Hotpoint machines, never seen one on a full size job though.

Have you checked and cleaned out the pump filter. Behind the lower front panel, on the left, other than that, as this is a very heavy integrated machine I would suggest pro help.

Possibly made by Smeg, not to sure.
