    Re: Special tool of yesteryear

Looks like the driver I used to use to remove the bolts that held the inner bowl to the Power Unit on old Hotpoint 1500’s.

    Young Jim. 😉

PS. Wish I had kept my old English Electric drum removal slide, that would have had them guessing.

There is a maximum time period allowed for each heating step to reach the required temp. (can be up to 20 mins) If the time period is exceeded the timer is advanced to the next step. If there is NO detected rise in temp over any continuous heating period of 5.25 mins, the timer will advance to the next step.

With my limited experience on these machines 😉 I would have to disagree with Tony on this one.

I have changed many timers for sticking on heat and boiling, I have never, ever changed a timer for a ‘no heat’ fault. It has always been the heater or its circuits at fault, causing the ‘poor wash complaints’ that initiated the call in the first place.

As this is a recon, my money is still on Tim & Bobs suggestions, the variable spin and temp connections are adjacent and the plug will go on either, only a £1 each way though 😉

    Chris.

I always do it against a wall. 😉

I have removed these tubs before and find the method in the Hotpoint manual fairly straightforward, just never had a leak from the heater box before.

I would hazard a guess that if you stopped any machine mid cycle, ‘Jet System’ gimmick or not and examined the clothes they would all be equally as wet.

There are at least three different ways to clear this on Hotpoint machines, dependant on production date.

Try pressing Start/Cancel button until all lights are displayed, then press & hold Start/Cancel button and On/Off button until dOFF appears in display.

Or, Press and hold Start/Cancel and On/Off button together with the far top left option button until dOFF appears in display.

tESt is normally set because someone has pressed On/Off & Start/Cancel buttons when starting the machine.

One other option is to press and hold Cancel button until it clears.

Take your pick and have fun. 😆

    Re: Sealed Tubs

I have customer with a six month old Hotpoint washer dryer that I have had to strip right down twice in the past three weeks, first time a 20p coin had jammed between the inner drum and drum support and was cutting a nice groove into the back of the drum, a couple of weeks later I had to repeat the exercise to remove a very large flat metal earring. I was called because they didn’t want to pay Indesit Company labour charges but on these sealed drum models that would have been two drums in less than a month, or a BER 😥

What is ironic is that the Indesit company now has a dedicated ERS support team with a full time Project Leader.

The object of the Economic Repair Support team is to use ” good methodology and practices to achieve lower cost of parts repairs”
The three mains areas they are focusing on ATM are fitting bearings to rear half & drum assemblies, fitting motor brushes to motors and fitting a pump motor only to repair a pump assembly. 😕

Done loads of the slimine, Hotpoint/Bosch ones by dropping the base, they are a pain to work on as well.

    Re: Drain pumps

These days 🙂 this type of pump has been in general use for well over 10 years. Cheaper to produce, doesn’t leak ( well rarely) bodies often interchangable but as you say, far less reliable than the old shaded pole motorised pump.

Hotpoint model WF340G/WE and most new Hotpoint production. Sealed drum part number 1605490. list price £132.12 ex vat.

I have been informed of Indesit and Zanussi models using sealed drums as well.

    Re: Hotpoint DWF30 Dishwasher

Funny, DWF30P/N/S do not show any parts at all in Partfinder, only DWF30P1/2 show any parts. 😥

The part number you have is the only one shown.

Also in the DWF30 manual issue 1 circa July 2000 it also shows that part number but makes no mention of date code 69. ❓
