Re: Hotpoint 7822W Upper arm not working

This is not a Bosch clone so does not suffer from the hose blockage or float chamber mechanism that Martin mentions, this model range was mainly Hotpoint’s very own, in house production. 😉

Most of the possible causes are listed in my first post. Very unlikely to be a blockage of the hose to the top spray arm, more likely to be a main circulation pump failure if none of the above possibilities are found.

Are any of the right hand vertical lights on steady because those are used to give the error codes which can be found HERE

Serial number of the machine, not the part, it should be inside the door or on the back.

£6.00 sounds a bit iffy, list price new is £77.47.

When you say you have swapped out the stats (x3) do you mean you have swapped them 3 times or swapped all three stats including the one hidden in the door surround?

What is the full serial number of your dryer? The timer in these changed during 2002 and the earlier timer is obsolete and cannot be converted to the new one.

Also the new timers are usually supplied with a conversion chart?

Do you mean ALL the lights flash at the same time? sounds like a main pcb failure, sending it to EMW for testing a possible option.

The tapering tube is not connected directly to the top of the inner cabinet. The water jet is forced into the tube and out through the nozzles.

Is there any water actually coming out of the top jet? To test this remove the upper basket and place a large bowl on top of the lower basket and run the machine for a few seconds on a wash cycle. The bowl should quickly fill with water.

I have attached an image from the manual which gives a few possible reasons. You must also bear in mind that this unit is around 20 years old now and many parts are obsolete.

Hmm, if I look up that part number at Masterpart, it is listed as £43+ if I look up the timer listed for the White Knight 0312 437 15000, it is listed as a 4213 078 52841 £19+ at Masterpart. Both out of stock of course as you would expect.:(

Cheers Dave, I couldn’t get it up on TDS with the X as the correct model number though ?

Have you ‘been repairing washing machines for a while’ as a full time job?

If you have then it beggars belief that you would ever be attracted to anything that Indesit have made in the past ten years or more. ❓

Most faults will give some sort of error code but if the heater is faulty it can wash indefinitely on certain models.

TBH I can only think of one part from you that went astray for a couple of days via Royal Mail, next day delivery has been the norm for a good while now.

    Re: Hotpoint Aquarius FDF784

Both codes relate to an electronic fault. A12 is a communications error so it could just be loose or broken wiring contacts or plugs, possibly disturbed in transit. check the connections between the main pcb in the base and the console pcb.

Worth noting that the main pcb in the base has to be programmed if replaced and the whole of the console assembly including both modules is one very expensive unit. 🙁
