Re: How much do you think a Hoover 3236 washer cost in 70’s?

    Around £150.00

No, just a bit to far, Whitworth is the extent of my travels up that way. Getting through Rochdale from this end can be a real pain, normally do calls up there very early if possible.

I’ll kick off by saying that the importance of a maintenance wash should be far more prominent ( thats if such info is even in the ISE manual) I had a Hotpoint WM drum support change today and when I informed them that the advice on doing a maintenance wash was in the user manual they rummaged around and actually found the 9 year old booklet. It took me ages to find it but I did eventually find a small postage stamp sized box, hidden away on the back pages giving the requisite advice.

In fact, alongside, or even in place of the ‘Quick Start Guide’ should be a Do & Don’t guide. In LARGE PRINT Check pockets. ( with clear and obvious warnings of the financial consequences of not doing so regardless of any guarantee). Don’t overload/underload, plus all the usual causes of needless service calls.

But then I have just realized that I make a good part of my income from the general carelessness or stupidity of the public at large. 😉

What is the date code of your machine ( first two numbers of serial number) if it is less than 40 you will require a complete heater box modification kit. Part number 1605230. If you do not have this modification fitted you are likely to have constant dryer heater problems.
Later element after date code39 is a 1605221. An e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should get things moving.

I seem to remember a couple of posts from Tony at EMW saying that the timer itself is prone to failure.

    Here it is.

Just done two more installs today, this is very useful info, will remember to mention OOB until the manual is sorted, on calls to replace an older pre OOB control type of machine.

One question I was asked today, is there a rinse hold facility, reading the manual quickly I couldn’t see one. ❓

And lots of others Bob. Had a Zanussi that was doing all sorts of strange things last week. When the customer finally mentioned that the TV flickered at the same time I traced the fault to the wall socket behind the cupboards, that the extension lead the washer, and TV where plugged into was using.

Is there a problem with certain Belling spares, got the oven element for this, still waiting for the grill element over two weeks later. 😥

There are three listed, a DG6145W as well, but I think that is not a UK model.
Drain pump is the same for both the others, C00090533.

    Re: Indesit DG6145 Heater problem

The drain pump and circulation pump are separate on these machines. Drain pump would only cause noise when emptying, not washing. Not heard one ‘knocking’ though. Drain pumps not very expensive, circulation pumps.

Guess you need to take a look, plug out of course. 😉

PS. What is the full model number, there should be a WE or a WG after DG6145.

    Re: Hotpoint TDL52

It is not always possible, to run the dryer with the back panel removed for long enough to see all four parts of the heater glowing. It is much safer and far more sensible to check the elements with a meggar or multi meter. With the machine unplugged. An even safer way is to check the power consumption at your electricity meter with the dryer set on both High & Low heat settings. Even if one side of this dual element had failed, or the stats had failed it should not cause dribbling.

I agree with Martin , sounds like a venting problem. Is this dryer in a kitchen or an outside location. does the vent hose go fairly level and out, away from the dryer, if not it should. If it goes up well above the level of the dryer then condensation can form inside the vent hose and run back into the dryer. Are the clothes spun sufficiently?

The vent hoses on these dryers are not very sturdy and it is also possible if your dryer is built in that the hose could be collapsing behind the dryer and blocking the outlet, as you pull the dryer out you would automatically straighten out the hose again. Worth trying with the dryer out in the middle of the kitchen to eliminate this possibility.
