    Re: Newish Hotpoint D/W

Turns out that the ‘orange’ display was the red mains neon. 😥
Model is an FDW20. Base is flooded, had machine up on blocks and found leak coming from side of sump. Partfinder shows the sump and sump fixing ferrule. There is a seal shown but no part number, anyone changed one of these, does the seal come with the sump, also does the ferrule screw or prise off?

    Re: Hotpoint 9949 Washer/Dryer Fault

That sounds like an FHP motor, quite a good motor not prone to failure. The brushes for all these motors will be available from the on site shop, part No:1603910, however, there are several other things that can cause E30 such as broken wiring, faulty electronic components etc. You do need a certain level of expertise to diagnose brush/motor problems. If in any doubt have a look at Repairs@ to see if there is someone in your area.

    Re: Hotpoint 9949 Washer/Dryer Fault

You may be correct in suspecting the brushes, how did you come by that part number for the motor, this machine originally had a GDA or an AEG manufactured motor, it was only fitted with the FHP motor later. The number you quoted is for the later FHP motor kit that was supplied to replace all earlier motors. The brushes for all three motors are available but are completely different.
Please make sure to remove the plug before you dive in, have a look at the motor and see if it has any identifying label on it.

BTW. The motor kit 161413 is over £143 ex Vat. 😥

Thanks for all the input chaps, I will arrive tomorrow full of confidence. 😆
Oh well that didn’t last long 😉

Customer said that she has had intermittant spin problems for a while. motor is physically and electrically perfect, brushes hardly worn, comm in good condition. All seals and wiring and all other components check out OK, machine is very clean inside. The only sign of water ingress, is corrosion along the lower internal edge of the facia backplate, obviously coming from dispenser. Ran on wash, drain, spin, worked perfectly on all functions. ❓

And I thought Hotpoint had the copyright on that fault. 😉

Need one of these valves for a Hotpoint 71340. Cannot see the customer paying the Hotpoint price plus labour. Can I order the 051836 direct from Bosch, Masterpart list it as POA 😥 or is there any other way I can get hold of one of these valves at anything like a sensible price.
Shame really this is the first time the thing has gone wrong in almost 20 years and is in excellent condition otherwise, the float chamber is the cleanest one I have ever seen on any used machine of this type.

    Re: PUBLIC LIABILITY INS QUOTES

I have always dealt with a local agent who called every 12 months for the premium ( £110 for £2m cover, no excess) sadly the Co-op have decided to do away with agents and now use other means to collect premiums.

I can send you a copy of my policy if you like. Definitely no excess to pay. I don’t get the divi on it though. 🙂

It was just a reference to the fact that these are supposed to be ‘information’ films. I was trying to be cryptic.
