ModeratorRe: LG1290FHB
Had a look at this earlier this morning, first time I have seen the inside of an LG. The controls seem well protected and out of the way, tucked behind the facia. I did not strip the machine down but it was obvious that the drum support/spider had collapsed. It has not tripped or fused. Customer says that she heard a noise then found the machine had stopped in mid cycle with the display showing 27, she could not get it to reset. I am guessing that it aborted due to the excessive load on the motor with the inner drum fouling on the outer drum & heater. I suspect this will be a BER job, but then it is 2 years old. 😥
Is the support bolted to the inner drum or a complete assy. Any idea as to the cost of parts, work involved. He has already intimated that he may go and buy a second hand machine to tide him over until a certain product (project) comes to the market. 😉

Or the best bet is to email Andy Willey andy@masterpart.com
Tell him you got the link from UKW 😉
Dave.
Don’t hold your breath, I filled in an account application form given to me by Andy Willey at the Sibson meeting, sent it off Monday 26th Sept, heard nothing, e-mailed him two days ago, still no reply. 😥
Perhaps I should try the local Lancashire lads at Homespares. 😉iadom
ModeratorRe: broken drum shafts
Just done one on a WM this afternoon, only 2 years old, using massive amounts of Bold liquid, with the Variable temp button turned down to 20° 😥

Very common in this soft water area. Whenever I go to a machine and see the Economy or Time Save button selected I know that in most cases the drum supports on the Hotpoint 9500/WM series machines will be rotting away. I always advise the correct use of temperature and detergent dosage, and thanks to the UKWG detergent training I am now in a better position to back up my advice.

Do you mean the shaft, or the drum support spider ?

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint T/Drier TC71
Did exactly that with the recent one I mentioned. They had a newer dryer in the kitchen and this old Creda dryer had been stored in the garage for a couple of years replaced because it was leaking and had stopped heating. The lower timer was faulty and the drain spout had been snapped off the float chamber. They had just bought a small weekend cottage in Wales and as the old dryer would be going in an outside shed with stone floor, they decided to take it as it was with the lower timer manually advanced to allow single direction drying, and the water draining into a small grid in the shed. The heater will switch off for the ten minute cool down via the upper control timer, the only drawback is that certain loads will roll into a ball without the reverse tumble.
NB. Heat should only be on when the drum runs in a clockwise direction when viewed from the front, the fan only blows in a clockwise direction.
New lower timer is a 1701133, list price just under £27 ex vat.

The prewash light flashing indicates a fill problem, check for taps turned off, poor water pressure, clogged inlet valve filters, kinked fill hoses etc.
It can also be caused by the drain/outlet hose being to low or being pushed to far down a standpipe causing the machine to drain or syphon on rinses.iadom
ModeratorRe: Can Hotpoint get any worse
The metal inserts are only used on the top balance weight, and then only on the front and rear left mountings.

kevinThat is the most polite description I have heard for some time, what you really mean is they are like at lot of today’s fare. C{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}^p. 🙂

Don’t think it will be bearings, it was running on Monday when I was looking at the dishwasher and it was fine. An unlucky (careless) customer this one, she has a Creda condensor dryer that has had two elements ( the expensive ones ) changed due to large bra wires shorting them out, I have just ordered a new element for the dishwasher, I wonder whats for breakfast. 🙂

I have it sat in front of me, strangely enough the rear one has red writing on it, this one has blue, but they both seem to have the same numbers on them?
10A 250V
I-03
T250 then at 90 degrees MS 5
As it has tripped on three occasions and I can find no others faults, I think I will go with the 162°
I have a feeling this machine could be ‘one of those’. I had a couple of New wave/Softwave type w/dryers that I never really resolved, that kept tripping the one shot TOC’s. Even the local Hoover chap admitted that he had some that they could not get right.iadom

Sorry, missed the letters. 😳 it is a 5+5 Wash n Dry.
Model HW5513M
31000398 0334 3303, around 14 months old. Although it is a Candy based machine, the dryer setup is similar to the New Wave/Softwave machines, slightly different elements and the two TOC’s are resettable. -
