Re: wma 33 door seal, soap damage!!

It suggests that the water supply has a large amount of algae in it. Hotter washes using powder with a small bleach component instead of liquid can help. It happens quite a lot in this area which has very soft water. It can also be caused if anyone in the family suffers from eczema, the creams and oils used react very badly with the door seal. If you look in the soap drawer I would bet that it is also quite black underneath and inside the top of the dispenser. Using drum descalers can also help.

PS. I always use powder or the square tablets that go in the drawer and a good fabric softener and my clothes are soft and fluffy. 🙂

My machine is a WMA and although I get the black gunge on the cold side of the soap dispenser and drawer, I have never had to change a door seal on any of my machines because they have marks on them.

    Hope this helps.

Also the exact opposite is true for some models, certain Hotpoint/Bosch slimline dryers store cold water in a tank at the back of the dishwasher, this is used on the next wash but serves to keep the back of the inner drum cold, thus allowing the condensation to collect on it and run down into the bottom. On this type you should always leave the machine for a while before opening. Worth having a good read of your instruction manual, the general consensus is that separate detergent and rinse aid is better than 3/4 in one tablets.

Re: HOOVER TCE61 Filter light no HEAT

That seems like a ridiculously high price for a heating element replacement, the part should be between £25 to £45 at the most depending on the model. Have you had a breakdown of the cost of parts/labour involved, it is only a 15/20 minute job for a trained engineer. Are labour charges that much higher in Germany than the UK? It would be cheaper to bring it over here and let one of us fix it. 🙂

Re: Indesit forno electric oven, grill ok but oven not heati

Hi Darren, Most likely cause is a faulty fan element. One slight problem. There appears to be an error in the official software we use to identify parts on this model. It shows a picture of the element in the diagram but there is no corresponding part number in the parts list. ( one of many errors and omissions unfortunately). An e-mail to Dave Conway would be a good idea, he may be able to help you further.

Be sure to isolate from the mains before going any further.

Get the machine repaired, much more important. 😀 won’t cost you as much in the long run either 😉

Hi Phil, It could be caused by several things, motor, heater etc. You would need proper electrical test equipment to trace.

If the machine was working fine before the move then I think it is worth getting it checked out.

Try here , please pull the plug if you intend to go further yourself.

Re: hotpoint WMS38 bearing change required?

It is a well documented fault. The later drum has a different type of bearing seal, this does appear to be more reliable. You should not leave it to get worse, it could leak onto the motor and do further damage. It is unlikely that the engineer will repair the machine on first visit, understandably, they will want to diagnose and confirm the fault themselves. You will not be charged for two calls, just the one labour charge on completion.

Great semi final. Lancashire 217 for 4, Surrey 195 for 7.

Gods own county in the final. 😀

The later viking horn/ banana shaped pressure chamber is not designed to fit the earlier drum. The hole in the outer drum is different, you need lots of sealant to make it fit. I have never, ever replaced an old style chamber with the later one.

Ring Hotpoint ASAP. you have a 5 year parts warranty. They will replace all the parts required for their labour charge of just under £90, At the very least you will get a rear drum assy or even a complete inner/outer drum replacement.
Do not attempt to do this repair yourself.

PS. WM & WMA/F/S are two completely different machines.

Re: One for the Hotpoint specialists

Depending on the model some have a single level pressure switch and some a double. On the latter the fill is to half level with motor static, then to full level with motor action. Unplug the motor and see what happens. At the same time you could remove the back and with the motor unplugged you could manually turn the drum to see if that causes the problem. If the fault occurs then a physical fault such as a blockage would be the most likely. Worth checking and cleaning the pressure chamber and hoses, I wouldn’t bother changing it in a machine of this age.
