ModeratorRe: Penguin45 – Conspiracy Theory – I Confess
Had to remove the link to a picture of a penguin in a compromising pose, the owner of the picture changed his avatar.
Is there a penguin mafia.
Edit, I now have the picture. 😀

Yes, had a sudden surge of these, mainly on W/Dryers but also on washers. Part number 169390, I now carry a couple. Not had any recalls as yet. I would always check the front mounting of the motor, the retaining bolt and small bracket, or the rod, can come adrift, depending on which type is used.

Good info, will check it out and report back. 🙂
That would tie in with the filter warning light coming on before the start of the drying problems.iadom
ModeratorRe: Cricket, lovely cricket.
Well here we go again, time to get the real sport on the front page. I would like to hear your views on the merits of playing Bangladesh.
Is it good for England players to get in some practise as a team, or would they be better of playing higher standard county cricket in preparation for the ‘real event’ later in the summer.
I love their curry houses, but this lot in white are a complete shambles.PS. I wonder if the England substitute fielder knew his grandfather. 😀
I mean, Freddie Klokker, what sort of a name is that.

ModeratorRe: Indesit W93
I have just repaired one of these. Machine under 3 years old. customer was originally quoted over £150 by someone who didn’t even pull the machine out, told them it was not worth repairing and tried to sell them another machine for £200 plus taking the ‘old’ machine in PX.
Neon flashing 8 times.
The fault was caused by the pressure (water level) switch. A very inexpensive part.
The error codes are at best guide, at worst useless.

ModeratorRe: Ariston F-02 fault code
From the ‘Known error codes’ thread. for Indesit read Ariston.
Indesit Evolution Range Error Codes also refers to the number of flashes on the non-lcd type
F01 Short Circuit-Motor Triac
F02 Motor jammed or tachogenerator detached
F03 Temp probe o/c or s/c
F04 Pressure switch jammed on reset
F05 Pressure switch jammed on trip
F06 Programme selector management error
F07 Heater relay stuck
F08 Heater relay cannott be activated
F09 Incompatable eeprom
F10 Pressure switch not sensing correctly
F11 Pump cannot be be activated.
F12 LCD Display module and main module not communicating correctly.iadom
ModeratorRe: HOTPOINT 9605 TOPLOADER
Not to sure about the hot valve, although it is a very common fault. All the fills on this machine with the exception of the Woollens/No:7 wash are initially hot fill. They only switch to mixed fill if the incoming water is too hot for the selected wash, as sensed by the thermistor.
If the incoming hot temp was not too high then all programmes except No:7 would fill to the correct level if the hot valve is OK through the hot valve only.
The pressure switches do fail on rare occasions and also the fill level switches in the 5/6 gang bank of switches are prone to burning out due to them carrying the heater load.
Strange why it only happens on 95° unless the incoming temp is very high, then a hot valve fault would cause this, but it would have to be dangerously high to allow cold into the 60° fill.

Curiouser and curiouser. 🙂
I have spoken to this friend of mine a short while ago and it seems that my suggestion to try the dryer on a 60′ timed cycle as opposed to using the ‘sensed’ drying of the ‘Cottons/Cupboard Dry’ setting has worked fine.
This would suggest that the element and the stats are in fact OK. On the Hotpoint electronically controlled dryer, the ‘sensed’ programmes are controlled by the module checking the increasing resistance through the load as it drys, how is this achieved on this machine? I could not see any sign of anything like the brush conducter thats rubs on the outside of the drum, as used on some machines but did not strip it down completely. I have a belt on order and have asked her to try the dryer on as many different settings as possible before I return.
This could be a dryness sensor or a module problem, methinks.iadom
ModeratorRe: HOTPOINT AQUARIUS ( 2000 ? )
Sounds more like a drum support failure, common fault if you use to much detergent and only do low temp washes. If you have stopped using the machine at once then this is a perfectly viable repair, the drum support kit includes new bearings. If you have used the machine once or twice after hearing the noise, you may have damaged the heater.
This applies to WM machines only, if it is a WMA and under five years old then Hotpoint/Indesit is your best course of action.

Now I know why I don’t like Philips tackle, such b****y long part numbers. Thanks all the same. 🙂
Jim.
Edit. Is that the vent stat part No: just had a poke around in Qualtex Freefind and the double stat kit ( square stats ) is available at £9.00 + vat.
The heater element is also shown and apparently fits a Bosch model as well, although this dryer is made in France.iadom
ModeratorRe: Whirlpool AWZ241 TD
Files received, thanks. The fan duct stat is easy to reach with the back panel removed, I will need to do this to fit a new belt, when I find the part number of same. 😉

ModeratorRe: Whirlpool AWZ241 TD
Those stats do not look anything like the ones in this machine, also , it is not a condensor dryer, it is a vented model.

Sorry, don’t have anything on Whirlpool/Philips gear. Do very few calls on them, if anyone can get me details of the test routine I would be most grateful.
Sios CD ❓

When I tried the machine for about five minutes, I got a good strong flow of warm air.
