Re: Soap suds in external garden hose ?

Even if all the hot water was poured or forced back into the drum under pressure there is no possible way under the sun that it could get back into the cold water supply.

    Re: Won’t fill OR Drain

Check the drain pump for resistance/continuity, some machines will not fill if the drain pump is faulty.

These Candy machines are prone to leaks from the detergent inlet hose dropping down onto the drain pump which shorts out and 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time takes out the pcb. 🙁

Likewise Andy, although the zips are holding up better on my latest Magma I do tend to cram it and one of the zips is now giving way. :clown:

There is absolutely no way that the warm, soapy water from inside the washing machine can get anywhere near the cold mains inlet supply. ???

Re: Hotpoint Dishwasher Aquarius DF62 Not drying no hot wate

I meant poor water flow from the main circulation pump. If the flow is low then the heater will not function correctly. The wiring doesn’t so much disconnect as break, if the broken wire ends are touching it is possible to get intermittent heat faults. It is also possible for the contacts within the control timer that switch the heater on to burn out or become weak.

It’s got to be a lot more than 10 years old . 😉

    Which £100 pcb is that?

This is a Bosch based machine that has no electronics in it, it is controlled by a timer.

The thermostats are fairly reliable and rarely cause a no heat fault. It could be the heater or the control timer, may also be broken wiring inside the door wiring harness near the left hand hinge, poor water flow preventing heater from being energised etc.

    Re: Hotpoint PCB

Do any of the numbers on the labels of either pcb match up?

You cant do any harm to the rest of machine by trying it without programming but in theory could end up with incorrect wash temps etc.

If it is the wrong pcb and given that the one you have has at best a 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} chance of being the correct one then trying to programme it using the correct settings for a WMT05 would be a waste of time TBH.

Another alternative is to send the original pcb to EMW who will repair and return correctly programmed.

If the drum bearings are sound then the machine should be good for a few more years yet.

    Re: Hotpoint PCB

Do you have any idea which model this 2nd hand pcb came from?

There are at least four different pcb’s for the whole of the WMA based machines, they all have the same connections but they are not interchangable. The correct pcb for your machine will fit around 21 different models but if the one you have is one of the other three it will not programme correctly.

Hopefully Don may give your more specific information as long as you give him some idea of your budget. As for quick wash and 8kg loads, not needed and a complete waste of time.

Re: Which tumble dryer for garage?

One other thing to watch out for when sited in a garage etc. If you do use a vented dryer make sure the large vent hose leaves the dryer level or hangs down, do not have the hose going out of the vent well above the dryer. If you don’t do this then the cold weather will cause the vent hose to fill with condensation which can run back into the dryer and cause damage, even worse if the hose has a large U bend in it that can fill completely with water and block off the outlet.

Re: Hotpoint 1509/10 transmission oil type

They never did tell us just what the SAE grade of the oil was though did they.:)

I believe the OP could be a friend of Hotpointjames, the young Irish lad who also collects and restores old appliances and has stripped down the gearbox.

They did supply an oil seal for the bottom drive shaft but I only tried to do that once and it failed in short order.

I have stripped loads of gearboxes though, saving and re using the original oil every time. I got it down to a fine art and could remove the gearbox sump without even taking the cabinet off. I propped the machine up on four house bricks and with suitable support under the gearbox pulley was able to release the bolts and prise of the sump then lower it to the floor, ( well protected with plenty of old newspapers). 😉

Changed several broken Bendix drive springs that way. Memory not what it was but think the spring was a 150063. 🙂

Re: Hotpoint 1509/10 transmission oil type

If you are the friend of James Rankin then I have already answered him. Any basic gearbox oil will be fine. The type of oil used was never listed in the specifications AFAIK, certainly not in manuals from 35 years ago and the gears move so slowly that the oil is not under any real duress.

Whilst I often opened up gearboxes to replace bendix springs and gearing salvaged from other gearboxes I would guess that 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of engineers even forty years ago never bothered to do that.
