    Re: hotpoint engineers cannot solder

That engineer who would not do the soldering needs a good kick up the arse but then again there are enginers out there who dont know how to solder i kid ye not.
I served in RAF for 15 years as an aircraft electrician and soldering was taught very early on in training.

As an example, I have a customer with a recent Hotpoint Washer/Dryer with the Indesit heater box on top. It is still under g/tee and yet in the past six months I have been to this machine twice to remove the drum and split it in half to remove, first a 20p coin that was wedged in the drum support, second to remove a large teardrop earring, also fast behind the drum.
They called me because the didn’t want to pay Hotpoint’s labour charge, had this machine had a sealed drum it would have been close BER twice in two months with cost of the drum over £132.00 before labour

Did you charge the customer for removing the offending earring and 20p piece?

    Re: hotpoint engineers cannot solder

I still work for hotpoint/ indesit and i can honestly say that i carry a soldering iron and used it only yesterday to guess what yes fit a new control board for an extractor hood. I have even on occasions used it to desolder an eeprom chip off a board so i can fit it to new board when not having one on van.
I can also tell you my supervisor told me to invest in one. Being a gas engineer also i carry a gas gun but thats not so good for desoldering control boards.

Re: WMA34 Control Board config codes

I suggest you then make sure you have you dont have one rule for one and one rule for your so called moderators as there are far greater levels of technical advice offered within this site to members of the public. for example how to test a thermostat or continuity checks on a series wound wash motor.
Instead of saying ensure machine is unplugged why not just say cant tell you due to the fact if you get electrocuted you may sue us

I find the very hypocritical after reading so many replies that issue far greater so called technical advice than pushing buttons.

Going off your serial number the machine was made in 2003 and is still under the 5 year free parts warranty. it will cost you £89.98 to get machine sorted with new board and eeprom.

Re: Hotpoint Ultima 1600 Model WMA61 Conditioner not dispen

Fabric conditioner is dispensed when the conditioner valve operates. This is a cold water valve so should operate whether or not hot water is connected to the machine.

Hi the date code is the first 2 numbers of the serial number in this case 86, which means the machine was made in feb 2001. Id much prefer to change the rear half of the drum and drum support than change the bearings.

Re: Hotpoint WMA32 v noisy spin

Hi Im an engineer for hotpoint. The easy way to see if its bearings that are making the noise is to turn the drum by hand from the inside and if you feel and hear a low rumbling sound its the bearings. If the machine is less than five years old it is still covered by the 5 year parts warranty and for it to be repaired it would cost you £90 and will take about an hour or so to repair.

    Re: Ariston A1636

Hi bad news Im afraid. You will not be able to shift all the black gunk off door seal as it gets engrained into rubber. Best bet is to get door seal replaced and then every month do a service wash to kepp the inside of the machine clean. It builds up due to doing low temperature washes. So what you need to do is a high temp wash over 60 deg with not clothes in it. I reccomened using bleach as it will clean out the gunk you cant see and kill all the bacteria that causes this problem.

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Why is it when you have an afternoon call and your early does the customer insist you call after 12 even though they are in?

Went to a large housing development on outskirts of Hull. Had to replaced door glass on an stainless steel oven. Found they were just covered in finger prints so advised site foreman to find someone with some baby oil as its the best thing to clean it with. Quickly added that seeing he on buliding site he would be better asking fo some WD40 instead.

Re: marghereta 2000 error 2 flashes

    Hi Drive

2 flashes is a motor fault which could either be an open or short circuit tacho. Also i would be checking the motor connections on the PCB.

Dont forget to unplug machine before diving into the back of the washer
