I agree Martin! Any idea of the resistance across the two NTC? Cheers

    Re: Hoover Condensor Dryer Leaking

I had the same problem about 12 months ago. I replaced all the O rings in the tank/valve but it still leaked. On the second visit I removed the drum and plastic chamber where the condensed steam is routed prior to draining into the tank. This plastic chamber is sealed against the rear cabinet of the dryer. I silicone sealed this chamber back into the cabinet and no more leaks! (you can also order a replacement seal from Hoover rather than using silicone).
    Hope this helps.

Went out to the job with Dragan’s info and a refurb EMW module. The leads (from the dryer fan) did go to J16 and all working fine.
    Thanks again Dragan!

    Thanks for then warning!
It really puts a dampener on a repair or sale if you rip the custs floor! :boops:

Re: Bush WD-1000TXVE – Tub mounting and Smell

Quick thought, is the machine itself clean? A lot of custs today use low temp quick washes and use liquid detergents. This causes sludge build up in the machine and it soon starts smelling. If the custs clothes aren’t being properly washed and then warm/damp air is being blown around an already smelly tub it will soon start to make the clothes smell.
Just an idea but it might be worth talking to the cust about their washing habits?

I know it’s an expensive job, I was just wondering how easy the spider change is? On a more expensive machine it may be viable?
Bring back the old Hotpoint WM machines!

    Re: H/Point VTD00 T/Drier – vibration after drum shaft kit f

10 out of 10 for perseverance Mick! I have noticed that the later ones don’t seem to have a spacer washer fitted? Don’t know how it would help but who knows! Some of these later ones seem to have a triangular brace on the front/side corners, these do seem to go back together better? I guess you remove the drum again, clean everything, silicon spray all friction surfaces and tighten it all up, again! Got to cure it!

A long shot but have you checked if any of the screws holding the heater cover are catching the drum? I had one where this was the case. Really badly designed dryers and don’t get me started on the the shaft now being fixed to the drum on newer models!

    Re: IDC75UK

You’re going back before my time now!

I tend to replace less door seals these days due to holes and rotting, I guess that’s a result of lower water levels in machines. So many more calls to mouldy and smelly door seals though instead! Liquids and Gels seem to be the common link used with shorter lower temp washes.

“Throw away the liquid and use a powder. Try and do a few longer 60 degree washes. Can I sell you a box of washing machine degreaser and de-scaler madam?” 😉

Nice when a thread takes you back down ‘memory lane’! 😉
I had a customer whose child had a skin condition which meant they had to use lots of oils on her skin. It wrecked the first washing machine door seal but, as the machine was a Bosch, I was able to order an ‘oil resistant’ door boot to replace it with. Expensive but did the trick!

Thanks Jim, yes! I forgot to mention the same happened to the float, shrunk and hard!! I did ask the customer if she washed unusual items 😉 or used unusual detergent but both no?
I think you’re right, though, there’s something in the water!

Re: Bosch FL, dispenser and fascia melted, I’m baffled!

The older Hotpoint 95 series were always overheating and distorting the soap drawer, often to the point you couldn’t open or close the drawer properly.
Bosch machines often have thin wires on the NTC. With a heavy load, the drum movement could cause a poor connection if the wire was close to breaking. Testing it empty (if you did?) would remove the movement.
Also if the machine was overloaded, the clothes at the top would be out of the water for a lot of the time with the low level of water used on modern machines.
I would replace NTC and check wiring to it and heater one more time. After that, advise customer uses the machine but with caution???
The job would be no fun if all the jobs were easy! 😉
