In that case John you will need a new lid valve fitted, you cannot do this unless Gas Registered so I cannot give you any further help other than call Stoves direct for a service call if you cannot find someone local to do it

Re: parkinson cowan gas cooker faulty lid

John I suspect the plastic cap that fits on top of the valve so allowing the lid to operate valve is missing, very common as they can come off easily, part number you need will be 082614212, call Stoves/Belling direct on 0845 408 0050 🙂

Re: Help- Diplomat ADP5426 not working 🙁

It will be the thermostat faulty, the original part is now obsolete and to get the correct one you will need to know the actual purchase date as there are 2 versions of the top oven stat, I seriously recommend you get a qualified Engineer for this repair.

The appliance is branded Diplomat but it is manufactured by Stoves, parts are available for it but you need to know if it was purchased before or after 6/6/00

Have you thought of Fagor or De Dietrich appliances, some might disagree with me on here, but good quality and a lot of them come with 5 year warranty and also have Pryro self cleaning ovens

I had a green & grey old circa 1976 P reg Sherpa Alex before the red ones came out, the policy ay Exeter SWEB was to give the biggest pile of crap still running to the recently completed apprentices until you proved your worth, I remember a good old mate of mine who got one of the new type Sherpas in about 1990 brand new in SWEB red colours took it out to ‘test’ drive it down Haldon Hill, blew the engine after he hit 95mph, only had 150miles on the clock lol

My first van 1981-2 in my SWEB days was a J4 with sliding doors, automatic with a top speed of about 40 flat out, bloody freezing in the winter.

Then progressed to the Sherpa, OMG what a pile of c**p, I think SWEB and all Electricity Boards had to buy BL vehicles for some reason, I think it was just before I got made redundant in 92 that i finally got a Transit !! 🙂

    Chris,

Are the indicator neon lights on the control panel visible and working as the tend to break off behind the control panel and short on the casing.
