ParticipantRe: Miele honeycomb drum: does it damage cotton clothes?
If you live in a hard water area, forget liquid detergent and stick to powders for both types of wash )colours and whites).
The honeycomb drum is supposed to be better than normal perforations at looking after your garments, so seeing as you don’t say damage and merely ageing I would also suggest detergent type and make be the first place to look.Kentish

I have had plenty of these type of washer dryers whereby they just go dead, usually once it’s at or around rinses. Normally I find it’s the pressure switch causing the issue.

ParticipantRe: Aqualux 1200 knob
I assume its an Electrolux/Zanussi or AEG badge here, anyway sounds like the flimsy locking ring that holds the prog knob to the indicator has broke. Usual cause is too much turning pressure on the indicator or dirty indicator causing binding of the plastics. There is a knob assembly that you can get that has new knob, it’s cap, rubber rings for looks and modified locking ring that holds the indicator in 2 places as opposed to the original 1 and toothed adjuster.
Knob cap has to come off, then nut down the prog shaft off, then knob pulls off, followed by removing the indicator. Everything is visible then, clean as required, and replace parts.

I know the dryer in question isn’t a condenser dryer. As for not stacking a c/d for the reason of moisture, why do/did Bosch do a stacking kit for the WTL style of c/d that has 2 fittings to screw the c/d to behind the lower panel, that has to have the brackets screwed into the w/m worktop?.
If you have someone who doesn’t check the condenser or breaks the lower panel clips you will have a leaking c/d.Anyway, I have seen it done and have had to deal with machines stacked that way and all I will say further is that the appliances were rock solid together, and way more solid than some “official” stacking kits.

I did not say it was ideal, however when there is no genuine stacking kit what easy option is there, considering anything into the w/m worktop could compromise the solidity of the top as well as moisture ingress. Any drilling of either cabinet could result in snagging of wires or damage to components, and add to that the possible implications on the warranty through anything of this nature and the choices are few.
I don’t particularly like machines taped together however I have seen genuine Bosch stacking kits that after 2 years the front bracket mounts have had so much moisture ingress the chipboard top has given on the w/m.March 10, 2007 at 11:08 pm in reply to: Stacking a Bosch Maxx WLF2450 and a Classixx WTA3003 #207353Kentish

If the machines had been in a cupboard, and with no genuine stacking kit available it would have been a cheap and easy get-out.
But anyway…March 10, 2007 at 10:33 pm in reply to: Stacking a Bosch Maxx WLF2450 and a Classixx WTA3003 #207351Kentish

Have it your way. but I have seen duck taped stacked machines and they are stable and secure.
Perhaps you should try it for yourself just to see how secure they might be.March 10, 2007 at 12:06 pm in reply to: Stacking a Bosch Maxx WLF2450 and a Classixx WTA3003 #207348Kentish
ParticipantRe: Stacking a Bosch Maxx WLF2450 and a Classixx WTA3003
All the stacking kit does is to lock the 2 appliances together. Where are the appliances going to be placed?
If it’s in a cupboard out of the way and visually means nothing, then why not use duck tape? 3 nice strips each side going from w/m to t/d will hold them together more than well enough.
It may not be pretty, but it certainly works when no stacking kit is availbale or an option.Kentish

It is a very good wiping program.
To remove MRU’s I use MRU Buster…which is totally free.Kentish

I use Nod32 for my antivirus. I back that up with Comodo (free) firewall to control all network activity, and use Tracks Eraser Pro to clear out all temp files and cache.
That is just some of my security software.Kentish
ParticipantRe: What’s this “recalibrate machine with a laptop"
Very soon their won’t be any emerging markets as they all want to have Western style money, lifestyles and trinkets. Only then will will the Euro makes realise the error of their ways.(and that would include the Eyro consumer especially the UK)
BTW…..I don’t think Bosch are in anyway a patch on their old machines as they too have followed the herd in seeling at a stupid price. I know Miele machines aren’t either what they where, but they are style the quality machine to have ofr realibilty and long life.
Just to make plain, I myself am independant and have been for the last 12 years. Prior to that I was 13 years at Zanussi (when they made a good quality mid-price machine).I don’t agree with the laptop requirement, but that still won’t stop me recommending them, all the makes are trying to find ways or restricting the independant .

Sounds like a blocked air chamber.

ParticipantRe: Bosch – Transport Bolts Query
We find most of the time only 3 of those pesky spacers are easily found, and the fourth is often around the suspension leg at the cabinet. However, give the machine a good shake, rock it around. Then make sure the drum move forwards and backwards freely enough then if it should fall free from wherever it is.

I don’t recommend machines that I know to be crap.
I don’t recommend machines that I wouldn’t be prepared to have myself. If that means Miele as my recommendation then so be it.
If someone isn’t prepared to work on Bosch or Miele that’s their problem. All modern machines have ways to reduce third party repairs and interaction, whether it be through laptops, complete assemblies with prohibitive costs for the smallest of things or whatever.
The last thing I want is someone to turn round and moan my recommendation was utter rubbish and lasted 2 weeks outside the guarantee period then died beyond economical repair as that tarnishes my name too.As for Hoover, I would never ever recommend a Hoover even when they were made in Wales.
