    Re: Purity of Dishwasher Salt

I would suggest that the main effector to resin chambers in the water softener will be a salt top up policy.
Even if “branded” salt is 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more pure (and that’s a big even) a poor salt maintenance policy will have a greater bearing.

    Capacitor?

Does it hum or make no noise at all?

The only thing I’m not sure about is the water coming in, it appears to pulse the valve, i.e. opens, closes, opens and does this while the drain pump runs. Drain pump runs for a short period and not constant. (Think this is how it should be).

Pumps should run intermitent but valve :hmm: (would be activated while condensing temperature is obtained). If you hang drain hose free (at minimum required hight) you can observ if water comes in.

Won’t work because the drain hose comes out high on the rear so no gravity flow takes effect.
Best way would be to empty the machine of all water through the filter/coin trap drain off then remove the coin trap, then run the machine with the coin trap out. Then you would be able to see any water coming out.

Unless you want to watch the water emptying under control of the pump..

    Re: Bosch shortage?

I was told it’s down to “new markets” ie Eastern Europe and the Far East now having a greater demand, and it’s more profitable to sell on the factory doorstep than ship half way around the world. There is only a maximum and fixed production and changes to that are not easy to arrange.

Sadly the practice of closing your native and original factories and moving production away like that has hit the home markets heavily, and in time new factories will be needed and built in the original home markets but that takes time.

I just squirt the area where the feet are going to slide with WD40. Works every time and also cleans the floor when cleared up afterwards.

Possible blocked condenser at the elbow at the top, or bra wire jamming the sump hose ball, so that when the pump kicks in water is squirted back into the drum.

Try working that one in an indirect service situation and you’re told the company won’t be paid on that job because that’s not listed as the correct part.

Whether it’s right or wrong is another matter.

Are you sure it’s not filling? The humming could be a jammed wash motor. Open the door 3 mins after starting the machine and check to see if there is anything at the bottom, not forgetting water is clear and therefore feeling for it will be easier.

The the box I was referring too. You have to unclip it to remove it, which can be quite a job..especially the first time you do it.

I was under the impression that only the Siemens badged appliances (in the Siemens group)were still built in Germany, with Bosch and Neff being built in China/Poland.

With such cheap and poor quality products, what incentive is there for the manufacturer to provide a speedy and efficient service?

All they want is for you to bin the machine and buy another from them.

Whilst I have sympathy for the public Joe, I feel you get what you pay for and until the public Joe realises this nothing will change.

On/off switch needs to accessed from inside the machine.

Of course, before digging make sure the machine is unplugged first.

If you want more than 5 years out of the next machine, then I suggest buying a Miele.

Of the 2 you mention, I would only consider the Bosch.

    Re: Bosch SHV4313 Salt?

Fill the chamber with granular salt until the salt is level with the top of the container (the water will flow out as the salt displaces it). If you live in a hard water area, repeat weekly.
