Ah, but you can get info on Meile, you just need to know who to ask.

If Meile were a bit more forthcoming and were happier to deal with the independents a bit more openly I think they’d find that they had a fantastic free salesforce.

    Re: SatNav

Yeah Eddie, that’s because the US Military that own the satellites will not allow as precise a measurement as they do for say, oh, a Tomahawk Cruise Missile and I have to say I kinda take their point. It would be dead easy for some nutter to then produce a GPS guided warhead, not exactly a fine plan.

I went the expensive route cheaply a year or so ago and bought myself an Alpine GPS head unit and it is superb but not always totally correct, as has been proved. However it gets you there if you don’t know the area 99/100.

As a friend of mine said of GPS, “It’s great if you haven’t a clue where you’re going but it’s still no substitute for local knowledge.”

    Re: Directories

On the back of going on and on about this there’s been a few more people who have requested and had their info put up in the directories but I had a thought about some of the text used.

Essentially we’ll use the information that you give us, that means that the better your blurb is the more targetted the work is to what you actually want to get. This is the philosophy behind e-Jobs as well so that you don’t end up with a Faber hood, or an Indesit if you don’t want to be repairing them as we all avoid certain brands. This is why I put the bit on the fax form for e-Jobs that lists the brands that you specialise in, that way you get the work that you want to do, are already doing most likely, are familiar with and therefore the chances of a first time fix are far, far higher. Better for you, better for the customer.

So please, if you are writing a bit of blurb for the directories take the time to tap out a paragraph or two explaining what you do, list any agencies you hold, if you are a UKW subscriber, the fact that you adhere to the charter, if you’re a DASA member, RETRA member etc. It’s there to promote you lot as quality repairers that know your stuff and are professional in what you do, make the most of it as all it’s costing is a few minutes of your time.

No probs P and there is a direct link to UKW on the atricle to the side.. “related internet links” 😉

The good thing is the exposure and that anyone pulling up that article from here on will get the UKW URL.

But Dave, there’s no pond at Sibson or are you thinkin on fising something out the stream?

On second thoughts, please don’t answer that as this is a family “safe” orientated site. 😆

    Re: Before It Starts

Oh come on FFS, one of you has got to be telling me I’m a loud mouthed twat so I can at least come up with some witty comebacks. I dunno, life’s no fun anymore. 😆

    Anyway, on another note…

I had a researcher on the batphone this afternoon from some Channel 4 show, she’s off to learn about the WEEE Directive et all but wants to link or mention the directories on UKW, hence the post this afternoon about it. Also the reason I’m pretty keen to see the bloody thing fleshed out a bit, but there’s some really lazy fuckers in this industry.

Come to think of it the batphone went bonkers today, for the batphone anyway, at least 6-8 calls on it, next I’ll be needing some poor sod to answer that or one of the other three bloody phones!

Upshot of it is, as I said, make hay while the sun shines and hopefully this is the start of seeing some of the fruits of my labour that none of you know about. Yes, I do do stuff in the background a fair old bit as well as the in your face crap.

I’m actually not that annoyed at the quotes they used to be fair as, because it’s honest and sounds it, it makes the site and what I said sound genuine which it is, but it let’s people see that. It’s not some regurgitated shite that they can read on a manufacturer’s website and hence piques people’s interest.

    To every cloud…

    😉

No danger we’d be able to play that, even in reality.

It’s not just that simple I’m afraid. The usual cause is a blocked air break/side chamber but there are no less than 12 different faults that can lead to the error being generated, hence the advice I gave.
