From who ,Not D&G surely as they pay a fixed rate so they wouldnt be bothered if you were there 5 mins or an hour
I try and pre diagnose as much as possible and am usually spot on so the cust hasn’t had two visits.
good to hear you got some more work, D&G are a good agency to have ,look after them .

i.e. type and make of appliance
age of applianceIt should make interesting reading for the public to see how many under 2year old Ariston/indesit,Servis etc are written off!
Now this idea has legs,Could we do a tie in with Which or some consumer organisation I wonder ?

ParticipantRe: Average Profit
I have learnt that the way to beat the big stores is offer what they can’t i.e on the spot delivery ,disconnection of old machine ,my smiling face ( I’m not joking, have you ever had anything delivered by an agency driver who doesn’t care ) demonstration of new machine.
the margin suits me and I haven’t had aknock back yet

ParticipantRe: Average Profit
I try and make a clear £100 on each appliance I sell but this does include delivery, installation and disposal of old appliance and packaging .
That covers my margin on the machine, and the cost of my waste transfer licence ,and the admin ,also If I have called to see there old machine there callout is refunded or not charged if they order there and then.
I carry a machine on the van all the time ( this will be an ISE in the near future ) The likes of argos etc offer delivery within 10 days and you must have your old appliance disconnected and the services must be within a metre for them to install .
Most people when confronted with a dead washer want it there and then in my experience .

ParticipantRe: UKW Subs Funding – the future?
This sounds like a very good idea to me ,I am being asked more & More for ID I normally use my Driving licence as it has photo ID on it but’s its with DVLA at the mo ( thats another story) ,So count me in Perhaps David could hold a database of manufacturers logo’s so you just ask for a card with all the logos of the companies you work for on an official basis ,Plus of course the
ukw logo loud and proud

ParticipantRe: SMEG DISHWASHER MOD DWF66
try the very small edge connector on the ribbon cable between the main PCB and the display module ,tension all the teeth with a very thin blade and check that it hasnt moved sideways along the edge of the board ,also check where the wires go into the rast plug edge connectors on the main board.
I had one doing almost the same thing as you and when I pushed the rast plug wires when on it went erratic display .
Also had one where the ribbon wasnt making proper contact.

Yep. If you get your fuel cheaper you’ll feel you can use it more profligately (less carefully) which means you’ll drive further which means you’ll spend more time at the wheel and less time doing what you really want to do. (Unless that is what you really want to do).
If your fuel gets more expensive, and it is nearly certain that it will, you’ll have to learn to use less and gradually you’ll come to realise that “less is more.”
Mike. But if your business covers a certain area you are not going to travel further because your fuel is cheaper ,All that will happen is your fuel costs will go down thus raising your profitability .
If fuel costs rise then the cost should be rolled onto the customer or WP( But we all know what happens there .
And with the amount of Cameras ,mobile speed traps, poor quality road infrastructure not mention roadworks around every bend nobody drives for pleasure these days ,you just drive from A-B .

ParticipantRe: Disposal of old parts
As I sell new machines and dispose of the old one for a fee, I invested in a waste transfer licence ,when I spoke to the EA they said any old parts or machines to be scrapped on my van were regarded as waste in transit so I needed a licence, they were a bit vague so I erred on the side of caution and got a licence ,as the consequences are dire from what I understand
