    Re: It Gets Worse!

I am a JLA dealer for sales and source most of my commercial equipment from them ,We get a better price for a spares only warranty
I was talking to their service dept the other day about a repair & they offered me a job!
I know of a Servis engineer they poached but the areas there engineers cover are quite extensive ,But they are having major problems training up gas engineers due to the tightening of the CORGI criteria ,On the whole they are quite a good company

if it is a small dryer with the bulbous back panel remove the clip if you look through the fan blades There is a flat on the shaft of the motor which is enough to get a pair of long nose molegrips onto(you may have to bend some blades then put a large flat blade through one of the holes lock it onto something apply pressure (reverse thread )and it should go

Does your drain hose go into a fitting on the side of the sink outlet ? as sometimes you can get a smell back through that ,Failing that a run through with a dishwasher cleaner should shift any nasties from inside

These pumps are renowned for making a strange growling noise intermittently ,If you can see the pump and its a red body on a clear/white plastic base ,its the pump deffo,If its black they do go occasionaly but not common

Re: Smeg Washer Dryers Vibration Modification

Ok this is getting silly ,I have today installed a third exchange Appliance for the same customer and it’s walking across the blasted kitchen ,I also have two more to look at in the same block of apartments .
I also have another one ongoing in a kitchen with a brand new limestone tile floor where Smeg are insisting I modify the machine however the cust will not sign a disclaimer for the floor ,And is saying why should he accept a modification of this scale on a new machine ? there is also another one in that development where Smeg have cut straight to the chase and have told me to order a mod kit before calling !
Smeg technical say they have a 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success rate with this mod .
what I need to know is has anyone carrried out a succesfull mod to one of these and how long did it take ?

    Lawrence

Just had a thought in the one where its her third exchange the fitters have used worktop as the base to raise it up to compensate for the plinth but this is standard practice isn’t it ?

    Re: Servis UK Problem

As someone that used to do work for the company that Servis Uk contract there service work out to I had regular experience of customers telling me how there appointment had been moved once or twice before I got there.
Also one other point is that Servis Uk INSIST on booking the calls and offering call dates and times ( when they are forced ) ,But have absolutely no idea where the engineer is going to be at any given day/date ,One of my many bugbears was going to one area on say a wed for two jobs only to get back and find they had sent a call over for the friday had I been contacted I could have done it same day! but as it was we would have to contact the customer and re-schedule ,Which is annoying to say the least when you have perhaps taken the day off etc .
Towards the end of our time with them I had a few ‘special’ calls that needed to be done urgently turned out the local BBC radio station was on the case so it does seem to work ,But on the other hand why should the customer have to resort to this just to get good service

I have no Nails on both big toes ,So have to wear safety footwear as a must I usually explain this and if they don’t believe me I offer to show them ,This usually does the trick and they find some newspaper .
I don’t know what the answer is ref the “tradesmans entrance ” but it does wind me up that’s for sure,We must be one of the most multiskilled jobs going ,Electrical , mechanical ,Diplomacy that would do the UN proud ,a sense of humour ,numeracy ,literacy ( for the insurance inspections) 😉
yet people look at you sometimes like you are dirt 🙁
