There are not many machines that are now made and sold under the parent manufacturers brand.
If you are sourcing from a quality manufacturer where is the problem?
    Quality is Quality

And the problem with that is ?
If I go and put petrol in my car instead of diesel ,what are the chances of Ford saying “oh ok we will fix it U/G for you” – I think we know the answer to that.

I take offence at that ,I am an ISE agent, and neither my staff or myself are bone idle, In my experience ISE agents are very good ,Thats not to say you may not get the odd one that is lacking ,but to my knowledge ISE do there best to filter anyone not up to the job.
You seem to make a lot of sweeping statements here and have an axe to grind do you own an ISE ?

Not long ago we had 3 damaged beko tubs from connect BUT the weird thing was the packaging was immaculate, but all 3 tubs had bits broken off them.
    Connect credited them no quibble

Re: Radio 4, am I the only listener?

Maybe I look at things too simply, from where I stand I want customers to buy durable machines as then they are more likely to have them repaired .
With the advent of sub £200 machines repairs look less and less viable to the consumer.
Thats if you can get the parts at all, we recently priced a Bush Bearing job the repair came to more than Argos were retailing the machine – customers response was to go and buy another one.

What is wrong with showing the consumer the facts ,tell them that
machine A is lifed for approx XXX cycles
machine B is lifed for approx XXX cycles
    machine C etc etc

That way they can make a considered choice balancing budget with durability
Its no different to mileage on cars

drawer out ,facia off ,then front panel off(look for three 7mm self tappers along the bottom edge )
then remove front weight on its frame ,then you you can get to the clamp band
    then reverse order
