I am an out and out greenie. We don’t have much time left on this planet if you ask me. It’s a terrible shame that we’ll be taking so many other species with us to extinction or hell but human nature is human nature and there seems no way to change it quickly enough to avoid the inevitable 😥

That’s almost as bad as drilling holes in the cabinet to remove some slightly awkward bolts. 😯
What a brilliant idea, wish I’d thought of it!
I managed to do it once the way the “nutter” describes by tipping the m/c back 45 degrees (though there was no base to remove or it was plastic). Saved me having to disconnect short and difficult to re-install hoses to reach the back of the machine.

I thought it was an island somewhere. And that as you were making an issue of it perhaps we Brits had stolen it and kicked off the penguins. Had been thinking of googling for it.

Ah, you mean Masterpart (out of stock on Monday). One I’ve ordered is C00053573, must be the drier one. Still, may be the one.

Thanks Steve for that very useful info. I must write it in my tips and tricks book (not for publication till I retire and then I’ll be open to offers to withhold 😆 ).
I’ve now ordered a “thermostat” from Seme for this model though I don’t know if it’s the drier or wash thermistor they’re supplying. Thanks Penguin also. I think the value did strike me as a bit “unusual” (it was before Xmas) when I first measured it.
It’s beginning to look as though I’ve c***ed up on this machine a bit! 😳

[quote=”Martin I then swapped the old brush unit onto the new motor, which worked but there was a burning smell so I abandoned that idea and gave up at that point 🙄
Isn’t there a t.o.c. built into the brush unit/end frame on Bosch motors? Could that one be duff?
(Although you say you tried changing the end frame).
Mike.
PS Did you try running the new motor on a flying lead?leavemetogetonwithit

Yeah, I s’pose they don’t get much sunshine up there.
😆

Or an intermittent contact somewhere. (Wiggle wiggle?Poke and prod?).

So does anybody know what the resistance of these Merloni thermistors should be at room temp.? And at what point one will trigger a fault condition?

Sensible gloves. Hope you wear a dust mask. Vacuums? No thanks. Tumble driers are bad enough.

I confess to owning a DVD recorder but I’ve not bothered to tune it to any TV channels yet. I bought it so I could store footage from my camcorder and re-use the tapes. It’s all wildlife I watch when I’m out walking. Nice to be able to share it with friends. Have to play it through my VHS recorder 😯 though ‘cos no scart socket on the old TV 😆

Welcome to the digital age. 😉K.
Sorry to sound like a wet blanket but I can’t really see much difference in quality between an old VHS tape and these new fangled DVD things. At least, I don’t find myself awed by it. (True my TV’s a 14″ and about 25 years old – cost me £2 at the local CA site)(And yeah, I’ve wandered into Dixons occasionally but all those big screens look more or less grainy to my eye).
Anyway, thanks for your kind welcome but I’m OK as I am. The amount of use my telly gets would not justify an upgrade just yet. 😀

20 movies on one disc?
And when the disc refuses to play?
The more you have, the more you have to lose.

ParticipantRe: Ariston programme selector switch
Finally returned to this one this am.(Time is no longer important as the tenant has now obtained their own machine and this one waits in the landlord’s garage).
Fitted new timer selector switch and the re-con module from EMW.
Result:- timer clicks round and round and 8 flashes* now. Tried disconnecting various components out of desperation. Nothing helped until I disconnected the heater element. Then, with that disconnected, everything started up fine! But heater is 32ohms (normal) and shows virtually nil insulation breakdown on my megger even at 1000v on highest scale. Rang EMW and they were baffled as, normally, disconnecting a component causes the thing not to start up.They suggested possible thermistor fault. Seems unlikely; it was one of the first things I looked at on 1st visit.
(*since looked up in error codes = htr relay not operating)
I’ll go back and try with an element from something else in a couple days to avoid expense and maybe try tapping the relay. Meantime, any ideas will be welcomed. If none of it works it’s no big deal as I can return the module to emw and the other bits don’t cost much.
