    Power off.
Find wash heater element in base of outer tub. Check terminals firmly attached/not burnt. Check resistance about 25 – 30 ohms. If element open circuit (large or infinity ohms reading)you need new element. If not,
probably time to call engineer after that as it becomes complicated.

Seem to remember Andy2 saying the same. Not seen him on here lately. I share your perception but can’t easily check. Anyway not much any of us can do about it except shop around which has the downside of being time consuming.

    Re: Zanussi ZT102 timer blown

    I’ve got a 513214 emw supplied timer (£25 +post).
Bought apr2004 . Did not cure fault (a very odd fault bit like the modern timer clicking through prog. fault!) EMW got me testing this and that (“try another motor” etc.) and I gave up thinking “they don’t want to take the timer back but I’ll probably use it sooner rather than later”
I’ll supply it on sale or return basis and you can pay only when you’re happy it’s OK.

Intermittent contact acrross burnt relay joint?
Soldered up two this week already myself – one Indy wm’c. one Zan dw. It’s definitely a weak spot 10A through a small soldered contact.
One of these days a manufacturer will find a more reliable way – probably already have. What about ISE?

Re: Washing machine not doing spin cycle

Unless you’ve got bags of time or the experience needed to follow Bassman’s advice quickly then you might be better off trying a new capacitor 1st (very cheap), then considering availability/price new or re-conditioned timer. If machine is that old though could well be time to scrap it 😥

PS Check motor windings carefully for signs of burning/overheating/discolouration.

Re: Bosch WVF 2402GB not heating/ drying

    1. Yep, that’s one good way to check. Also listen for noise like kettle as element sizzles, although if it isn’t heating you’ll hear nothing. Most machines won’t go through whole prog. if heating no go.
    2. More or less cold. Obviously depends on water temp.
    3. Some machines have a resettable overload thermostat which you might have reset without knowing it. (Red button goes click when you push it).
    4. If not heating on wash, post again.

Power off before removing panels or lid. :plug: Your safety is your resposibility.

Bosch Technical … they have no idea what that cable harness is or why its listed??

Bosch technical have never been any use to me either. Dunno why they exist if they can’t be of use to anyone. Not very fair terms of business are they? You’d have been better off putting a request in classifieds for a second hand motor. I got a nice new one for half new price from Mark last August and a good Indesit one from Phil in November. (It’s a long time I haven’t bought a brand new motor and longer still a module). If more people would start really using “classifieds” forum we could get some of these garage loads of “waiting” parts moving and not cluttering our garages. And we’d all make more money. 😀

    What does it look like?
I’ve got a “timer” off a WM1512S but it’s the black plastic Elbi type with an edge connector like on Merlonis. I expect you’re looking for an “EC” type?

Edit: PS **!!@**!! me! Just realised it’s the same as one for which I bought a new one for that bl***y Ariston the other day. (‘Scuse the language).

    Re: servis no drum turn

Check module visually. You might find signs of burning round a relay terminal. Bit of sand paper and a soldering iron will usually fix that. Check resistance of any large resistors on module. If any open circuit replace w same value. There were some offers of Servis modules in classified forum a few months back. Try a search.

Martin wrote:No TOC on this one Mike and I wouldn’t have a clue how to wire up a flying lead one one of these to dare try 🙁

Choose a nice day and take the motor out in the backyard in case it turns into a small bonfire. 😆 Check visually and with meter which wire in plug goes to which bit of motor.Use 3 amp fuse and RCD thing for max safety. Have fire extinguisher handy in case. 😆
Live in one brush terminal on the motor plug. A link-wire out the other brush terminal and into one of the field coil terminals. Neutral out of another field coil terminal. Check resistance (probably 4 to 10 ohms) between live and neutral on plug. Keep the motor still with your foot on it as you switch on. Give it only the briefest short burst to try first. Feel like I’m trying to teach my granny to suck eggs.

There’s bound to be a TOC in there somewhere and they have been known to fail or even go intermittent though it would of course be pretty darn’ rare for a brand new one. If it isn’t in the end bracket it’ll be tucked into the field coil windings. All good fun.

I’ve never heard of a machine of that make in UK.
Does it have an electronic speed control module* either seperate from or integral with the timer/programmer?
