    Re: BOSCH WFF2001GB/01

I fitted a Hotpoint double valve to one of these couple years back (friend’s machine). Only had to drill a hole or two to accept fixing screws.
Take restrictors out of old valve and fit to new. Plus change terminals for Lucar connectors.
    Mike.
Edit: Also has advantage of only needing to replace coil if there’s a next time.

    Re: WMA bearing change

I only did the job once, a couple of years ago. Took best part of FOUR hours but this is Cornwall, we take life at a different pace down here. (Mind you, I did the whole job with the bearing kit and the new spider and it was the first time with no website to help me).
Couple of hours after getting home and lying down I realised Hotpoint would have only charged the same amount to do it under the five year parts warranty and subsequently referred these little earners to them.
Not sure what I’ll do if any of them outlast the 5 years and I’m asked to do one. Perhaps quote £140 or whatever will cover 2 hours and a rear tub half.

You can probably get away with that bearing housing as long as it accepts and holds the new bearing seal firmly. Coat it with a waterproof adhesive before reinstalling the drum to prevent further corrosion.
If you’ve got time to look around try your local civic amenity site (dump)
for a similar machine (there were many millions made and the dump is a likely place if your local reconditioner doesn’t get there first). You could get a heater or at least a pulley. (You’d need to check that the heater has a built in thermal fuse, same as yours). Also try your nearest small shop domestic appliance trader for a s/h pulley. (Though I’d be surprised too that it was possible to cross thread it and still get it all the way on square enough to work).
By the way, I noticed an error in all the advice so far given here.
No one has exhorted POWER OFF! 😯 ❗

    Thanks for the tip, wornbrushes.
I actually opened up the p.sw. and checked it fully. Did not think to check its hose or connection to board. Will try that when I return there next Weds. Guess I’ll have to get used to looking more closely at these connector blocks. Maybe get some more powerful reading glasses 🙁 .

    Re: Dear BSH Man

Maybe these machines have to have a better mains filter to stop them having their delicate little components b******d up by variations in voltage from the supply.(I think I saw this suggested by Andy2 some time back). They’ll need this even more if the gas starts running low to power the power stations.

    Re: WMA bearing change

I really don’t see any difficulty getting those pins out; they’re only the same as Zan split tubs, aren’t they?
I think it’s misleading to say (Martin) that the WMA is “slightly more involved” without making clear that you’re using understatement (IMO) and “no special tools required” is stretching the meaning of “required” a bit (IMO). This thread so far has been reading like some sort of joke being played on an apprentice.(As we stand back and wait to see how he gets on with a new challenge).

Paul, I’d reccommend you don’t book any other calls that afternoon ’cause if you do you’re gonna be late and possibly in a mess and bleeding. I’d also reccommend that you use this site’s own forum search facility to find out more about what you’ve let yourself in for.
OK, perhaps the job ain’t THAT bad but most of those who do it regularly are well prepared beforehand.

I think it might be a bit old even for them but I’d think they’d have a go for you.

Re: Askoll circulation pump no go, in Hygena d/w

Popped that back in yesterday. But I shouldn’t say popped because it was a right struggle. Maybe I made it more difficult for myself by spreading a little bit of Debor round the bayonet pump chamber joint(?). I don’t find any bayonet pumps very easy to extract or to re-install. Am I doing something wrong ❓
Anyway machine seems to work fine now (touching wood and hoping not to hear ‘phone).

Update 2009. This customer rang me about something else the other day and mentioned that the dishwasher is still going strong 😯 .

    Re: Indesit W1035WG blows trip

The replacement motor finally went in today.I mean yesterday. It does the job but seems a little bit slow on spin. I tried it with the tacho coil from the old motor which had a lower resistance but it made little, if any,
difference. The module is one of those old WZ670/2 ones. It has on it a preset pot labelled RV1. Does anyone know if it’s worth trying to tweak that? Would it adjust spin speed? Or maybe I need to use the magnet off the old armature?

The only time I ever did a Creda 17 series bearing job (with carbon face seal) I got called back the following week to sort out a leak. It was the bearing seal leaking. I spent some more hours on it and changed the seal again and it still leaked and I just gave up and refunded the money.
    Never again.

    Re: Zanussi FJS1225 Time Travelling

Now come on Chris, you know the reality is not so simple.
For one thing it’s difficult to get your meter across the terminals of an IDC plug. For another it is often time consuming to get to the point in the cycle where the fault is occurring. Customers are not always of much help.
Your suggested methodology must have led you to have quite a nice little stock of boards which were not needed after all?
    I have one (1).

The special offer is on 1249203041 which seems to be 1200 but is described as “old” under “status”.
Seems to me that you could use pretty much any old Sole motor to test the theory that it is the motor causing the fault. Or is it one of those machines that will show a fault code if one terminal is disconnected?
Seems to me that we should all charge more to work on these b****y electronics.

Masterpart have a special offer on a Sole Zan. mtr at the mo. I know it fits a 1250 model I was working on the other day. £50 +vat.
Have you got a Masterpart a/c? If not I expect someone could get it for you.
On the other hand, would a 1000 spin not fit on just to test?

Have you had the front of the machine off and checked that the heater terminals are not making only intermittent contact due to partially burnt terminal?
