I would think it worth ringing Tony at EMW 0115 9652118. It may be that he will have some experience of these already and may be able to check them out for you. I think it’s only £4.70 +vat if there’s no fault found, but you’d have to check that first. Turnaround is normally quicker than obtaining new part.

If you have got the old seal you can find a new one by measuring up the old one: internal, external diameters and depth at shoulder and at front lip. Ring Seme customer services 01664 484002 if you don’t have their catalogue, they’ll probably help you over the phone.
Mike.
PS The dimensions are usually visible in the rubber e.g. Hotpoint 95s is 30x52x10 (int. x ext. x depth).Zanussi is 30x52x10/12 (front lip sticks out).leavemetogetonwithit

VT9’s will fit Lec fridges with an exposed evaporator, for wet wall use a VX0 which is basically the same but has a lower cut out temperature, this applies to Candy/Kelvinator as well, basically poor quality or underpowered compressors where the evaporator doesn’t get as cold as a better quality product 🙂The other problem with the Lec’s is the “0” position is often 45 deg out.
A top six:
VT9
VC1
VS5
VX0
VT93/VT3
VP4/VL4Dave.
Thanks Dave,
Such valuable info ought to be filed somewhere on the site where it could be more easily found. Whilst we don’t want to clog up the top of the forum too much, could there be a place somewhere where “stickies” could be stuck where info such as this could be filed in a classified sort of way?

Drulight 01443 812372 supply parts by post to the public. If that’s available as a spare (and if it has a part no. it must be) then they’ll get it for you. You’ll have to pay full whack though I should think + post.
Have you tried Gias directly? 01204 556161

Yep,
That’s another thing I had already learned from a previous discussion!
Though apparently there’s more than one version of the blades and you have to make sure you’ve got the right ones? So I brought the old ones away with me. No rush on this job as I’m off to “live the dream” for ten days from Thursday. Did I hear some quiet sighs of relief coming from out there in cyberspace?

Got job done at last.
Just have to hold my breath for a year now, ’till my guarantee period is up!
Gave old module a quick try first but it was still dead as a Dodo.
Could find nothing in oven which would explain the original blow up unless it was the oven illumination bulb which was blown and blackened. Could that be possible? As the customer didn’t feel illumination was particularly necessary she agreed it was best not to replace the bulb just in case. Many thanks for all the help/teaching.

The biodegradable bit is a bit worrying. Six months in garden soil. How long would the bugs take to eat it off your washing machine repair? 😯

Dave,
Award yourself a good gloat, you deserve it 😀 .Got there to find a sump full of very manky water. Wished I had invested in one of those syringe things Martin and others use. Asked customer for small cup for bale out and she produced small measuring jug. Most of the water ended up on her kitchen floor.
Pulled out motor. rear blades mostly gone.
So methinks your posting saved me considerable time searching. 😀
Thanks again,

Oh, and another idea:
The WEEE directive. If we could get the thing to really roll at just the moment when that kicks in it might give it an extra push.leavemetogetonwithit
ParticipantRe: yell.com
Just a mo, I thought we were talking about Yellow Pages rather than yell.com. I didn’t realise that would cost £120K.
I’m not sure how any response level (e.g. 5000 hits) can be “guaranteed” ❓ Anyway if repairs@ is getting 200 plus jobs a week that’s already hit my previously stated goforit level of 4 jobs/year per 25000 population. In fact if it’s doing that well already is there a big need to advertise more? I mean if someone taps into Google “washing machine repair” UKW is right up there, isn’t it? So an ad in yell.com is competing against ourselves, isn’t it 😕 Wouldn’t it be easier/more efficient to spend the money increasing the visibility/findability of this site?
I still like the idea and during the day I’ve had a few thoughts.(Though I should make it clear I’m a lazy person and you won’t get me offering to do any administration or that kind of work).
Cowboy/rogue/rip off merchant exclusion policy? ➡ confidence of customers ➡ greater success.
💡 e-bay style feedback system? 💡 Paypal guarantees?Edit 18/10/05 20.15 Sorry, I understand from RS’s post under DASA discussion that there is already a feedback system in repairs@.

Mike, from an environmental point of view, the longer lasting machine by not taking up residence in landfill, would cause less environmental damage than a replacement appliance irrespective of the gain from increased efficiency. I doubt, unless something really radical happens, that any improvement in performance could negate the damage caused by additional manufacturing proccesses and raw materials.K.
Agreed. Though I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of something really radical happening. Remember “pedal power”? 😉

ParticipantRe: Zanussi with Holed tub- Quiksteel repair?
I repaired a plastic tub on an 8 month old Servis the other day. The guarantee hadn’t been honoured because caused by a 20p.
The engineer had told her it would be cheaper to get a new one. Presumably he was meaning compared to tub replacement. Then the lucky lady found my name. 😀
I cut a bit of plastic from a scrap hotpoint tub. Drilled two holes in it lined up with two in the tub at the sides of the hole. Put two 5mm brass(couldn’t find ss) bolts in with heads on inside of tub using fingers through hole. Fixed bolts with nuts. Widened holes in repair piece to go over nuts. Plastered with tub putty on inside of repair piece. Slip it over bolts and fix with washers and nuts.
Haven’t been called back as yet so I presume it worked OK.

Date codes. Shouldn’t this be a sticky, like error codes?

Normally we catch them before any damage is done because the owner compains about excessive noise on spin. What’s the policy in these cases? Quick drum change? 😉 (Presumably you’ve got six drums in the van anyway as you don’t know whether it’ll be weight or bearings). 😆
Seriously, I take my hat off to you, 70 odd minutes.
