    But maybe no neutral?
Often cut-outs are in neutral side. So need to see if there are any o/c. Also, most modern Lux WDs use thermistors, one is on heater trunking and one in the hose that goes from tub to condenser down near base of cabinet rhs. Orange wires to which often get broken internally by movement during spin etc.

    Bob.

ps do you have technical note 005LB.
Hi Bob, I would much appreciate the tech. note and will pm you my email. Although I’m a little dubious about re-tensioning the sprung contact as a long term repair. Am inclined to BER the selector as new ones are so cheap 😳 .

Only just! By the time I read this it was yesterday’s.
Easy way to find it, use Ken’s link, click on Schedule in menu along top then use calendar on schedule page to select Thursday 5th January and scroll down to 12 noon programme and clik on “listen again”. Should work for another 6 days.

in reply to: What’s this component on Miele W504 board? #364671

Re: What’s this component on Miele W504 board?

Only the merest whiff of any visible problem on the board as I said in my first post. The boards look like they’re built to withstand an earthquake and a lightning strike at the same time. So really, I’m only pointing a finger in that direction for lack of any other culprit.
My customer is waiting for her Bosch to arrive. She told me on the phone that the gentleman at Currys had also advised her (without prompting) not to let the delivery guys take the old Miele away but to stick it on ebay!
I’m thinking I might take out the motor, loom and board and have a little play around in the lab before putting anything up for sale.

Pictures tell the story here. Machine was totally dead. Primary was o/c.

New transformer from RS is at top.

Bit of a pig to get old transformer out though.

Certainly sounds like tacho fault or perhaps connections to it. Had one Bosch a little while back which baffled me until I took the motor apart and found the magnet broken clean in two.

Re: You can take a Hotpoint to water but….

Maybe our friend from Lancashire (or Yorkshire? Somewhere north of Bristol anyway.) will have some clue.
In the meantime you could have a peep at the board for signs of blown up triacs or domed electrolytics and even maybe see if there’s a large rectangular polypropylene cap on there supplying power to the fascia? board. Or deliver customer into the clutches of Hotpoint OOG service with appropriate cautions. I presume that’s a fairly new model so she shouldn’t have to shell out more than a ton or so?
Whilst it would be nice to sort it yourself, you’re surely not that desperate for work? 😆
Why not give Tony a ring anyway? I think this could be the beast?

Who writes this stuff? Sounds like people who don’t know english very well. You’d think they’d be earning enough from their scams to pay someone competent.
