    Re: Bosch WVF2402GB/02 FD8408

Have just had a shufty at the exploded diags on Bosch site and I see it uses a conventional timer. I therefore think the drying business may have been a red herring. Perhaps it was just an intermittent neutral (most likely) supply to door lock which happened to work OK just for that time when you tested it on drying. If it still won’t start a wash when you get back, I’d be looking to find out if at that timer position there is both a live and a neutral continuity from mains plug to lock and if not, find out where it’s getting lost.

Should be no problem if that’s a Whirlpool. Probably best to observe carefully the position and orientation of the old one so the new one goes in as near as possible the same. Quick search of this site should find the part no. at RS. Or see related topics below.

I bought myself three different thicknesses of nitrile cord from these people after reading somewhere on their site that you just have to cut to length and use superglue to join. Surprisingly, it works well.

I’ve used it to good effect on a couple of occasions but not often needed so I’ve got a lot of surplus. Can send you a foot each of 3mm and 4mm and 6″ of 2mm although Xmas post could hold it up. Failing that you could cut down a larger ring of the right thickness if you have one.

in reply to: What’s this component on Miele W504 board? #364666

Re: What’s this component on Miele W504 board?

Hi Bob. Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure if I have a zoomed out pic or not, I’ll have a look in my PC and camera cards later and post it up if I do. Board is back in machine now as I was going to order new board. I stopped suspecting the red plastic doodah after finding something on the net about VOGT (?) being a classy manufacturer of chokes. So I decided it must be a choke; and as its only two connected legs (diagonally across component) have low ohms between them, I decided it was probably OK.
Trouble with working on Miele boards is that everything is soldered in to military spec. Which is great till it goes wrong and you want to desolder it to check it. So I have to practically destroy a component to get it out so unless it’s cheap and readily available (and not that many Miele components are) I avoid it if possible. Then there’s several diodes on there whose markings I cannot find any reference to anywhere on the web. Also some smd semiconductors which are blanked out 🙁 .

    Re: Bosch WVF2402GB/02 FD8408

If the 75 stat is open circuit, that sounds suspicious. If it’s a Klixon type stat and not a thermistor it would be very unlikely for it to be a “normally open” type. If it’s not expensive, I’d order one anyway. If it’s very expensive, pull out the old one and test it with a hot air gun. If it doesn’t close when it gets hot (or change resitance to indicate it’s a thermistor), crush it gently in your pliers to find out what’s going on in there.
How that could affect the operation of the washer though is beyond me.

    Re: KDW243A kenwood dishwasher

From http://www.fixya.com/support/t2920992-e1_error_code_kenwood_dishwasher “The E1 error code indicates a water inlet error.
To access test mode: press and hold Normal+Eco, and press Power. Release buttons. Then press Start(display n:01).Press Start again (display shows water level frequency-not important). Press Start again-(display n:03-motor will be running). Press Start again (display n:04-drain pump will run). Press Start again (display n:05-inlet valve will come on and machine should fill with water). You have now tested major components are working-if you keep pressing start you will scroll thru and test other functions, like heater, dispensor etc, but not needed for your fault.
If Machine didn’t fill with water in test mode, you probably have a faulty inlet valve (test resistence should be approx 3.7-4 k ohm).
If inlet valve has tested OK ie machine filled with water in test mode then:
    Disconnect from power.
Remove side panels (need to remove top, and bottom front panel to then be able to remove sides)
    – Check no water in base of machine-water in base will indicate machine has leaked and activated the safety device which shuts off inlet valve.
    – If OK, you probably have a faulty flow meter(measures water intake). Located left hand side of machine, large plastic compartment, which has a sensor at the bottom with 3 wires (red, white, black) that go up to control board. Replace entire flow meter assy-relatively inexpensive part.
    – If you still have problem, then control board is faulty, it is much more likely to be flow meter .”

in reply to: What’s this component on Miele W504 board? #364664

Re: What’s this component on Miele W504 board?

Well, still no further with this one. No loom damage found. Replaced a couple of components on the board (the IGBT and the current sensing resistor) but to no avail.
I am getting a couple of volts back through the tacho connection at the board end when I revolve the drum by hand and I have made sure the pins in the plug are raised so they should be making contact.
Yet what happens is as follows: select spin/drain, press start, drum turns in one direction for a second or two then rinse light flashes rapidly (=no tacho signal received.) After a few seconds, the light stops flashing and the drum turns for a second or two in the other direction then rinse light flashes again. Rinse light goes out, one more time it tries then rinse light flashes again and then the machine goes to end and drains with rinse light continuing to flash.

This all indicates to me that something is not happening between the tacho pins on the board and the processor. I just don’t understand how such a low current portion of things could get damaged at all by just washing a bath mat.
Sorry, I see I didn’t mention that before. It was not rubber backed and I was told machine had made excessive noise (I presumed unbalanced) and customer had turned it off, got filter out and in so doing (I deduced) water had overflowed into base leading to original call to empty base.

Customer is ready to pay for a new board (£262 + del.) but I’m still hesitant. What could I have missed?
Long shot I know, but has anyone out there broken a Premier 500 series and has a secondhand board I could borrow? 🙂

    Re: Bosch WFO2466GB/07 no heat

If you do a search for test + relay on here or on Google, it should come up with plenty of info. I found recently on an AEG board that burnt solder terminal is probably an indication that the internal contacts inside the relay are about to fail anyway so with any older machine I do that anyway.

    Re: Sandstrom Dishwasher

I went yesterday to remove a lemon pip from the pump in a Kenwood table top dw. Took me an hour to get the bayonet pump off and back on again. Had to practically take machine apart and then find a way to replace those single use hose clips effectively. Got through a couple of pairs of latex gloves in the process (in order to protect myself from sharp edges.)
OK next time I do that it’ll be quicker because I’ll be able to remember the route. (Won’t I.) Mind you I’ll be giving the cable tie down the pump channel at least five minutes chance before I start dismantling! Maybe in the long term we’ll just have to adapt to working on this carp. Adapt or die.

    Re: Sandstrom Dishwasher

Had a customer call me this morning about a noisy Siemens dw “about ten yrs old but still in like new cond’n externally” which had been getting noisier over last month or two and had now decided to pack it in completely. Would I come round and have a look, how much would I charge etc. Well I wasn’t feeling like going right away because I’ve got other stuff I want to do so I got the model no. and said I’d call him back when I’d looked into parts availability, likely faults etc.
Rang him this evening and he then kept me on the phone for about ten minutes first trying to decide whether it might be the drain or circulation pump and then lamenting this “dreadful modern world where we just buy crap and chuck it out after three years ….” sounded a bit like Ken on a rant.
Finally, it turns out they’d been out to Currys this very afternoon and ordered a Sandstrom (?) for delivery Friday. I think it was the Mrs. decision :rolls: .
