Ask customer if there was a light on display before the trouble started. If there’s power getting through from door lock to light (phase side I presume) try tracing the neutral path both from mains plug and from neutral side of light.
If it’s worth the time and trouble, and that’s rather a big if, I’d get a power module off EMW on sale or return before going back. If you do that though, you need to make sure there are no other issues (motor, heater, lock, pump) before fitting as they won’t refund you if it gets damaged.

Re: Millions not dying due to low temperature washes.

From Wikipaedia entry on Legionnaire’s :
“In 2010 a study by the UK Health Protection Agency reported that 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of cases may be caused by infected windscreen washer systems filled with pure water. The finding came after researchers spotted that professional drivers are five times more likely to contract the disease. No cases of infected systems were found whenever a suitable washer fluid was used.[17]”
So maybe you’re more at risk driving to the job. And please don’t squirt your windscreen washers when passing a cyclist!

Is it maybe squeezed a bit tight in between the units? Although if so I would have thought the door wouldn’t close properly.

Is it the big power board with a row of heavy duty terminals all along one short side? If so, did you pull that connector off and make absolutely sure there was nothing going on around that? Probably in the connector itself.

Good god no! We’re all modern down here you know. We use 10p’s!

Tried it again right after this post and still doesn’t work! 😕 😕
Hmm. Let’s try adding it to this post….

Martin wrote: Had anyone reached the same diagnostic conclusion as I did at the time, we would have all been in the brown smelly stuff!

Not quite. All you or I would have done would have been to attempt repair of the old module by soldering in a link and fit a new lock. We would then have meggered everything (incl. w. motor plugged in), before functional test.

If the motor had showed faulty on megger we would then have investigated that. If it hadn’t shown faulty, (most likely just brushes down which may also explain no low insulation showing on Bsh 2’s megger) then at the very worst we would have blown the original module. But we would have been very unlikely to invest in a brand new horrendously expensive module only to blow that up.
(Actually, I think I’d have asked her to check on purchase date/guarantee when she gave me that model no. on the phone 8) )
    Mike.
OK I got it. It was a word I was using! Begins with sp and goes between brand and new! 😆 😆

Do wonder sometimes, are we at risk of catching something from working on washing machines?

Given the other risks I think this one is small enough to ignore.

No, it got rejected when I tried to do that! :haier:
Never mind, I’ve copied it to a word document and will try again this evening.

I’ve written something in reply to Martin’s post and every time I try to post it it comes up “Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /forumsphpbb3/posting.php on this server.” Yet I can post anything else anywhere I like. 😕 😕

Re: Zanussi WJD 1457W Not drying

I know this sounds dumb but I’d just swap the coil out anyway and see what happens. The dryer coils are very prone to failure and it’s cheap to change. Any water valve coil will do. If you still get same result, then look at changing ntcs / connection reliability to those. And only then think about board.

Wasn’t it that same “expert” who was advocating a 60 wash once a week?
