Another thing they don’t like is damp. Condensation builds up on the plastic of the brush holders for some unknown reason. Would probably show on megger or blow a sensitive trip. This normally leads to symptom you describe plus flashing st/pause light. Worth bearing in mind for the next one.
PS: When you said you checked insulation res. did you check that it was not below 40 megohms?

Re: Amp connector on cooker element

Do you mean the connector end where it joins the element or are you thinking of using butt connectors to put in a new section?
The best way would be to renew the entire wire TBH. Makes a proper job of it. You can get that glass fibre covered cooker wire somewhere – it was discussed on here a few months ago, IIRC.
If not, I’d use a good length of the glass fibre sleeving you find in various places in cookers, driers etc. (I’ve got a small collection of recouped bits, you can e-mail me with requirements.)

I thought most of these £X cash back deals were just a con anyway. It’s not like they actually want your old scrap machine is it? So, tell customer, if they want £50 off, all they need to do is go in waving cash money notes under the nose of the salesperson. 😆

Reading your account, I’m wondering if you’re worrying too far ahead. From what you say, they “asked if they can have”. It doesn’t sound like an insistence more a polite request. Tell them the truth, you have nothing to fear, you’ve done nothing wrong. If the courts can’t touch our Clive, what have they got on you?

Very much like a WMA but the spider is easier. I lay it on its back before releasing the springs and pegs, then lift the front cabinet and gubbins gently away. That makes it less of a struggle to get the springs and pegs off and on because you’re not fighting gravity.

Popular faults on these are 7 for turbine/impellor/reed switch thingy, and 11 for turbidity sensor which usually just means cleaning the black grid thing in the sump with a soft toothbrush. Worth checking those out.

    Re: Hoover VHD 8122-80 w/m

Only other possibility I can think of would be a tacho / wiring fault but one of these I looked at a little while ago had a blown board and blew the new one on motor start up despite my having thoroughly checked the motor beforehand 👿 . So be very careful!

If that was zero ohms (although I’d think it more likely you meant infinity) a short circuit through a valve could take out something on the board.

“Shorting motor” could also mean a coil gone L-N short?
You quite often see the small Merloni 3-phase motors on e-bay from machines which have had drum failure. They usually remain unsold at 99p, though going rate for carriage is a tenner.

Re: Zanussi’s policy on early drum failures?

Customer rang me this morning again. She now says it’s Currys she’s approached and they have asked her to present a written quote from me and on that basis they will either go for the repair or give her some money off a new one. 😕 Thought Currys worked with DSG or some such?
Machine is apparently 1yr and 11 months old. Anyway, I’ve printed up a quote and will drop it in when I’m passing.

PMP777 Electrue part has 8 fixing points. Should be worth a try. Or try a Beko pump (put that in connect’s search box). Lot of them use bayonet, though terminals might face forward. Check if one you’re replacing has a toc, best fit new one with or swap coils if they fit.

    Neff e-shop
gives exploded diagrams but it’s not clear. Looks like you’ll need a whole switch bank but even then there’s two versions 😕 and only one in stock at sixty odd quid. Think I did one like this a couple of years ago. Not a part that could be easily repaired. Cheaper than a new machine I suppose.
