Years ago somebody, think it was Iadom, posted on here that as long as it was bigger it would be fine. I have since (temporarily) used a 7 in place of a 5 (Zan dw) without any apparent issue. Now regularly replace 4’s with 5’s when cheap 4’s out of stock and 7.5’s with 8’s which are usually cheaper.

Had one of these about a year ago. Piece of cake. Side off, bearing was a 6204. Got vee-ring seal VA25, IIRC, from http://www.simplybearings.co.uk
Think it was on pulley side. Might be good idea to take your pullers, seem to remember having to struggle slightly there.

Ahem, where have you been? This issue has been discussed all over this site for the past couple of years at least. Tub and drum assembly is around £160 retail. No chance of cut and shut with these I’m afraid.

Looks like you have to take the drum out through the top 😯 . One piece cabinet with small back panel by the looks of it. Version I’m looking at does have split drum though. But you’d need PNC to be sure.

    True enough, Kenneth.
What bugs me is the way so much was made (and continues to be made) about energy saving appliances as if we were going to “save the planet” (= save ourselves) by opting for them. It’s only slightly less daft than the “scrappage scheme” for cars as an “environmental” measure.

Re: Zanussi’s policy on early drum failures?

Right. Turns out they just wanted to clarify whether I had already done the job or not. I’d have thought the word, “Quotation” at the top of my submission would have made that clear enough :rolls: .
Anyway, they say they’ve decided to give the customer “a contribution” and it will be up to her to decide whether to spend that with me or towards a new machine. I’m not holding my breath 😐 .
Don’t know if I’ll ever find out what the contribution was. Would be very interested to know.

Re: Zanussi’s policy on early drum failures?

Gave ’em a call just now. Gave reference no. He looked it up. Took a while.
“Jenny’s on late’s today. Can I get her to give you a call back?”
Have asked that she call between 6 & 7.
Wondering if she’s going to suggest they supply part and I do job for my labour quote. I would go for it but wouldn’t be me who would g’tee part :rolls:.

Re: Zanussi’s policy on early drum failures?

Dropped the quote in on Sunday. £200+ (£160 drum incl. del.) so expected that to be the last I’d hear of it.
Come home this evening to find msg on call-minder,
    “Jenny from Currys… can you ring to clarify… 0844 800 9090 quoting ref. …”
😕 What have I let myself in for?

Commonly, green coil on triple valve goes o/c once warmed up after being on for ten mins. Dryer shuts down with E10.

Oh well, never mind. Those wind up torches are getting cheaper and cheaper, soon they’ll be 2 for a pound. Maybe they’ll bring out a wind-up washing machine soon 😆 .
Although, I suppose you could say that a lot of the present crop are a bit of a wind up.
Think I heard something about the Severn barrage being shelved again too.

    Re: Connect changed courier?

Well parcel turned up this afternoon while I was out so I guess it must have been the usual guy who delivers Masterpart orders cause he left it in the usual place but didn’t put a card through the door. Not so bad really, at least I know now it’ll be around 4.30. No more next day jobs though. DHL were great for a while when they had the same driver for a long period but he left recently (got better pay elsewhere) and it’s been chop and change drivers every month or so, which meant re-education every time.
The drivers who turn up in cars (“DHL@Home”) are self-employed sub-contractors who earn a pittance. Mate of mine tried it for a week or two, 95p per signed for parcel – he didn’t manage to make any money at all what with all the people being out and him having to call back two or three times.
