Went back today. Gave the whole thing another once-over, concentrating on timer. Could find nothing untoward. Decided the fault must be inside the timer so decided to take timer out, take it home and see if I could get it open and confirm my suspicions.
Carefully noted all wiring colours and disconnected timer and removed it.

Just about to pack away my tools when noticed that the plug fuse wasn’t blown. Both it and the wall switch one had been blown on previous visit. Went to check wall switch fuse and you wouldn’t beliieeve what I found!
Some utter t!thead had put a five amp fuse in there! Can you believe that? I mean, these people! :innocent:
Re-installed timer and all now seems to be well.
Nothing to do with this of course, but thinking about getting some new reading glasses.

Only other thing I can think of is damp. Usually affects motor, but it would have started OK with motor unplugged.
Have you tried diagno sticks? Should be available on Connect mediator.

Thanks Martin. Didn’t realise you could get the actuator on its own. Think you’re probably right about the timer.

Give Tony a ring in the morning. Save yourself some time. He may have another board in stock and will probably send it out for you to try in.

    The elements seems fine
Have you tried disconnecting the dryer element?
Yes, if that doesn’t work, try disconnecting the wash element, and finally the motor. At some point the machine will start normally and you’ll know you’ve probably found the fault.

Does it complete the programme after it decides to fire up again?
It sounds like there’s a loose connection or bad solder joint somewhere.

With the element disconnected it will flag up an E71, E20 or even an EH1 fault. 🙁

Never seen that before and I’ve done a few. Is there something different with this model?

Very common with modern lux. Try a search. Favourite is water not draining fully / p.sw. not reading empty so won’t start.

Drier element down to around 30Meg insulation is favourite. Disconnect it and tie up the wires out of the way. Save yourself some time; leave the customer to test it through a few washes. If it’s fine and they didn’t need the dryer anyway, you won’t have to go back. But in case they decide for a new element, note the watts reading on old one as they vary.

Just received seperate bearings for AEG I’m doing tomorrow. Electrueparts BRG6306 and 6305. Was pleased to see that both were SKF. Smaller one is Italian made (IT) and larger one bears inscription BG (Bulgaria? Cue womble jokes.) and the SKF on that one looks like it’s been done with a hand held rechargeable engraving doo dah. Hope it lasts the course.

You should really have sprayed the whole area with strong disinfectant whilst wearing a space suit and evacuated the premises for a week.
Shame about the rower but reading the article you linked to, I got the impression that his was one of only two deaths per year from this cause in this country. So, I expect there’s something else’ll get you before that does.
I also wonder if the bottled water industry might be hyping this up. “Don’t share water bottles. Don’t drink water from rivers or lakes” etc.etc.
