Wasn’t sure either if he meant a blow dry dishwasher or a washer/dryer.

Yes, but martin not everyone has your ability. You’d be surprised how many engineers look at a pump for instance and don’t get that the smaller the cable the higher the et resistance or how to calculate what that resistance should be by using the voltage & wattage written on it. Not having that ability may mean that although they have metered the component the reading may indicate the reason why you cannot resolve an odd issue.

It’s an overlooked tool that can help when faced with an unusual fault. It’s used by engineers as opposed to part changers or the phone a friend tool.

If no water is entering the ice tray you’ll need to check water inlet solenoid. It’s twin set up so separate solenoid feeds water dispenser for drinking, the other feeds ice tray. It’s a common fault, for one solenoid to fail.

Piece system and get readings from your gauges. If you don’t do system work there is no point going any further as a stat or other forms of temp control would not prevent cooling within the fridge unless a diverted control is fitted.

Would help if you stated what has occurred that makes you believe it’s faulty.

I’ve come across very few professional peeps here that agree with any of my comments. I come from a section of the industry that police’s engineers, so some comments l make have caused offence.

The worse mistake people make is to over complicate situations, not helped in clients homes who when asked what is the problem usually start explaining faults several yrs in the past and eventually finish 5 min later.

A refrigerator only requires a few components to function. It’s the interpretation of the clients comments and opinions added to a knowledge of components used to achieve the goal that is key.

You’d be surprised how many engineers lack that knowledge, for various reasons, success is usually due to either previous experience within the brand or a good technical brain. The latter being less likely thanks to UK education policy of previous political inept morons. I actively promote training and industrial regulation of our industry as there is no Whitegoods qualification, so anybody can claim to be an engineer.

Now l duck with anticipation of the usual slagging off l get when l mention this subject.

Stick your ear on the cabinet, lower the better, if you hear a faint humming noise when you press start button it will likely be the drain pump jammed by glass/debris etc.

Not really. May make you feel better though, in a small way.

I must be mistaken, that’s the problem with being a plonker, it makes it too easy.

As for the fridge, an appliance with less than a few parts is hardly going to confuse anybody with a basic understanding of the appliance, experience & a logical brain.

As for photos, you’d be surprised what anomalies us professionals can spot from what would appear to any one else.

You may have had a slow pumping/labouring compressor that was capable of maintaining the temp before you switched off. Now it’s not capable of bringing the temp down quick enough if at all..

You can interchange elements, it’s very useful to know, as prices can differ, it’s very important for a business to remain competitive and maximise its profit ratios.

    That helpful enough?

Or would you prefer to learn Ohms law and power triangles.
