One of the biggest mistakes self employed people make is trying to please everybody.

My advice is let them buy part from Whirlpool, and when they contact you in 14 days as they still dont have the part from them you can sort it feeling smug.

Stick to your guns, your business is run how you want it to be run, not how a client does. You have to follow that rule, your the boss, Mr Branson will not take bu88it from clients or suppliers, other than appointed advisors, the bu88iit is left to PR companies to make it look good. Virgin not matter how its jazzed up serves one purpose and that is to make money from people with money willing to pay money for a service virgin provides at a standard virgin wants, not some gobby rental person with more gob than brains, power or cash.;-)

    Re: EEE safe email.

I believe 2 mistakes are common.

    1. Believing it will be perfect.
    2. Over complicating the model.

The industry as has been said already self regulates itself at the CV stage of an employee attempting employment. Its more complicated when a person launches a business.

Eeesafe model will not work. This l agree with Ken. It has all the traditional traits of previous adventures in which some business peeps get together, get a few yrs of nice company cars, expense accounts etc etc etc then dies a death.

My take on it is govt interest is not via a group of business people.

As i’ve stated before keep it simple, don’t involve the private sector and copy other govt run models in other sectors.

I would also be surprised if aide wasn’t somehow involved in eeesafe, would be right up his street.

I’m no heart expert, but what l do no is clients will come out with any bu8is88t to get it sorted.

I had it the other day, the cooker and house was at a level of dirt it was probably safer not to eat anything out of it but there was a medical reason that they needed the oven working.

I suggested they went to argos and bought a small table top oven would be sufficient for the few days and that since its a medical necesssity having a back up would be a logical solution and it could be used when they clean the oven.

Spoke to a mate the other day who went out to a fixed price repair. The cost of parts exceeded the charge the client paid, so there doing a refund, the client though kickin off and stated that she was not told there was a limit and assumed the repairs the company do that dont cost much cancelled out the high cost repair.

So she paid £120.00 and assumes this would cover the £280.00 worth of parts required on the 8yr appliance.

Yeah business is all about giving back to people.

Re: Smugged up or getting one over on obnoxious customers

Got a call from a company running a power station who needed a commercial tumble dry.

Cant remember exact dimensions but u could easily fit in the drum. Was on 3 phase.

They wanted a quote, we didn’t do commercial stuff, but l thought couldn’t hurt. So told them on the phone l’d get a price.

So got off the phone, opened yellow pages (pre internet days) rang a local commercial company asked and got price, they would also deliver /install & set up.

Rang power station back, added £500 on top of price. They much to my surprise accepted and within a week had it installed and working.

Never seen it or got involved apart from 2 phone calls and 2 invoices.

    😆

Dont assume anything, if your ever unsure of the obvious google is your friend.

I have called people paki, niggers no, black ba888rds yes sometimes, pikeys, foreigners.

I have even called people with low iq’s idiots, thick, retarded, dick heads, knobs.

Insults are never meant to be pleasing and anybody who has never insulted a person is lying.

But words also require context, nigger is used without malice throughout the world. Pikey is a slang term and does not always mean an insult any more than refering people as the “travelling community”. Your still labelling people.Look that man is fat, is saying that an insult, no, but somebody in this wonderfully tolerant world is likely to start getting all defensive and start an arguement that never required it. You do find in a room full of grown adults there is likely to be one that is a knob.

    Re: What Made You Walk

I’ve been to several pikey sites in the UK and never really had any issues.

My first encounter in Spain was in Seville.

A new cooker was picked up from a store and dented. The stores wont deliver to the estate for obvious reasons. The problem being it was there fault, the store decided they didn’t want the issue and passed it to service.

The local engineer felt better having the van parked away from the estate. I was given a knive and a hammer to carry and told if it kicks off just run, i’m no runner which l guess is why l had the tools.

Again no issues, the women actually really friendly, due to fear they got everything they wanted.

A couple of months later a few of the men got arrested for putting a bullet in the back of the head of someone l guess had issues with them and some drugs.

I recently visited a pub in Hereford that was lets say not a modern wine bar but your spit and saw dust type. The upstairs though was one of the worst hoard places i’ve seen. The dirt on the carpet had become worn into the carpet, the place stunk of old dog pee and s88t

Walked out of a house full of Somali’s due to cockroaches around the back of the fridge.

Got locked in twice, once by a crazy women in the UK. The other was a camp Spaniard. Both tricks worked that l needed to get out to get the parts, they kept the tools and l drove off.

Got thrown out once. Guy called me a c88t and a few other expletives, l find laughter is a great wind up in situations that have past the calm them down stage.
