Cheers Madmac.
The customer is in a village 9 mile away, been there twice now, first to diagnose the fault, second to fit the new part,Got completely lost on both occasions ( time for a sat nav me thinks, been using google maps and the printer all this time ) Now the customer is panicking that they wont have their dryer over the bank hol, we dont have one in stock either so im going up there a third time tommorow and loaning them a dryer until i get delivery, then its back for a fourth time and you can guarantee i will get lost again too.

So should should I check the resistance before I go ordering any parts Martin or is this a job for the pros? You are right to assume that the valve is at fault, and they do fail so that diagnosis is not beyond the bounds of reason. However, there could be other issues causing the same symptoms including pressure switch, blocked hoses and indeed faulty programmer.
I would always advise contacting a local engineer such as myself who would call, assess the problem and deal with it accordingly subject to your approval. Simply sticking a new valve unit in may well solve your problem but it also may not? It’s a gamble at this stage and no mistake. 😉
Many thanks for the your replies Martin, you could come round and repair it no probs but the thing is I am in Southern Ireland where we get bent over on anything like this and I am sick to the teeth of the rip off culture over here especially with the way things are now. That is the main reason I said I’d give it a go. I’m handy at fixing most thing so that is the reason I am here now.
I even rang Neff about the part you posted earlier and it was more expensive than it is in the UK – typical!
Anywho, enough of the rant 😀
I figured it may be more than just the valve alright. It is making a kind of gurgling noise when turned on and no water is getting into the unit. I might open her up and take a look but the folks want their washer working and they may just have to fork out.
This is my major concern, Theres too many people out there these days that think we are out to rip people off!
Half the time i find its the engineers maybe geting ripped off these days by having to do work as cheap as possible or lose the job.
Im also fed up of having people ring me, go give them a price then say they gonna ring around for a cheaper estimate, If i was a builder making thousands out of each job then fair enough i could deal with losing the odd job but at what white goods engineers charge to do a good fair job and make a living i think its discusting persoally that we get treated like this too.
Please remember, if u have had a bad deal done by a tradesmen there is plenty of others out there that will give you a good job at sensible prices, in other words, DONT give up on the WHITE GOODS TRADESMEN/WOMAN.
And once you find a good one……. Keep their details.LJDomestics

The dishwasher should be cold fill?
The drain hose should be about half way up ( half the height of the machine ) so it doesnt self syphon out.LJDomestics
ParticipantRe: I love indesit
We also provide spares at cost plus VAT when doing a repair, if its a sale of a spare only then i add a percentage.
