I just thing its gone beyond denying they have caused it, however the way things are going your more likely to get taken out by one of your appliances than old age

I’d agree that a brand new element should be more than 1Meg though. It does not bode well for its life

I often have to do it on dishwashers that have flooded the base, You could heat it with a hair drier first can make a big difference although 1 is not low enough to trip so you could just fire it up as normal.

If its a linear pressure switch model the pump only runs when it has water in, if you tested spin with no load in then the pump will stop once all the water has drained and there is no load to release more water when spun,

As for the banging has the drum ever been changed ? The 3 springs go in a certain order as does the suspension legs. Multiple position and must be correct based on drum size, also make sure the bottom and top weights are tight as its common for the bottom o e to come loose.

Did you do a full spin test with a full wet load ?

Since 98 times more people die a yr should we start banning pen tops.

however they did not die by using the pen in the normal and recommended way.

Unlike a Drier, fridge and Cooker that was being used in the normal and recommended way.

    Interesting stuff.

    K.

Very interesting stuff but being honest using words like “allegedly” before the fires and deaths bit is not helping.

the fact is fires have been caused and very likely caused deaths, there only way forward it to accept it and take the consequences.

I believe they are trying to sort the problems and ALL manufactures are in similar positions with regards to recalls one way or another but there is a line thats been crossed and there is no running from this.

People have died, families destroyed, they would look far better in the long run if they just come clean.

Normally the drum has to come out of the top BUT I have done these with out removing it.

Remove the back panel and put its on its back. You need a very short torx bit on to undo the bolts

Otherwise remove the tank out the top of the machine.

    Re: Power Station Closures

Ev is not the way forward. It has a place for very low usage but for the masses its not the solution, you still need to produce that power to start with. Hydrogen Fuel Cell is the answer, you still have to produce it and fill the car with fuel (Hydrogen) so the existing system of refining and distribution is ready to go. Oil companies are putting billions behind it after all they aren’t just going to give up and close all the refineries and fuel stations once the oil is gone.

Its the closest solution that meets the system we have in place.

    Re: Power Station Closures

It is an absolutely no win situation however I have always believed that utilities such as Power And Gas should have remained under state control

They always spout that private competition drives down costs but it never happens. Should electricity and gas have remained under state control the prices would be the same if not lower as this is mostly dictated by wholesale fuel costs and the profits would be going directly into the public purse.

Now you have Royal Mail going, all selling off does is bring in short term lump sum but it screws you down the line.

An example of this is a local school was built with private investment, it cost £1.2M to build, over the life time of the deal the private developer will receive upwards of £17M

How the hell is that value for money.

So Beko are denying they have caused any death’s as per today’s news page

“No one at Beko is happy about what is happening in the UK. There is no evidence to indicate that Beko products have actually been responsible for any of the deaths in the UK”

    Interesting indeed.

We are closing a few, rest of the world is building another 10000

    http://m.guardian.co.uk/environment/201 … -institute

The Uk is beginning to really put its self in a worrying position.

All the home grown manufactures are gone, almost all the major British companies have been sold to foreign owners, we are heavily reliant on imports of gas and oil for fuel, now we will be reliant externally for power as well the way things are going.

We seem to be the target of everything in the eu rules but never seem to benefit from it

Re: Advice needed – Safety Issue!

Iv seen that last year, from what I gather its a fault that has taken some time to come to light and has only started happening a few years down the line in ownership, the reports seem to start in 2010, add to that the fact they were not fully aware of just how many had gone up as they are not always referred back to the manufacture when a fire happens.

Since they have known it took some time to find the cause as the bit timer design is almost identical across all their DW of the 2001 to 2008 and the others don’t suffer from it.

They are contacting every customer they believe has one but it boils down to the same as the Beko situation, finding the machines is no easy task.

As Iv said before I’m no longer in the loop but I do see some of the lads every few weeks for a chat but they were very reluctant to spill the beans.
