Think you’re right Mick, thought last year was quiet but this is becoming bloody ridiculous 😯 Ive done three jobs this week so far..nothing booked for wed 🙁

The present government is definitely putting the frightners on the general populus, and retailers are responding to this by dropping prices..we’re caught in the middle unfortunately.

Think i might go abroad & do some voluntary work or something.. come back in 2012.. getting bored of cutting the grass :rolls:

    Re: Zanussi ZWS16270W / 914604003 Wont run a program

Well i returned to this box of fun yesterday afternoon. I had a similar machine sitting in my garage with a failed drum but working otherwise if i remember correctly.

I tried changing the motor, 2 press switches, door lock & heater. Took the main power board completley off & went over it carefully looking for dry joints. Tweaked each & every edge connector going to it.

Result after all that?? Just the bloody same of course 👿
I didnt try my donor machines power board ‘cos i had damaged it in storage :rolls:
The boards are a matched pair anyway as far as i know.
Must be what it is though, wasnt willing to spend any more time on it & my punter certainly wasnt willing to put a new board pair on it so thats another 3 yr old machine for the tip.

I’ll know the next time to avoid any showing this fault. open circuit components seem to make these machines drop the display mins down, things like a holed press sw pipe will flag a fault code, but this particular glitch ( going on ‘pause’ shortly into a prog) seems to be a board fault… one lives & learns :rolls:

Err, was just about to post an almost identical question 😕 FJR1454W mine is.
starts up but then dies flashing start/pause.

Changed a very worn set of brushes but still no joy, checked heater for continuity/earth drop.

Anyone help us pleeze ❓ 🙂

    Re: work dead

Thats certainly the way the manufacturers & sheds want it to go Gazman..every repair we do is a lost sale to them, their greed for profit is all that matters to both of them.
I basically see this job as part time employment now & have had to adjust my lifestyle to suit.. if it wasnt for the fact my wife has a fairly well paid job we’d probably be in a tent by now!

Oh well, i seen on the news last night the Chinese natives are very restless & demanding & getting 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} pay increases from the greedy companies who are exploiting them.
Hopefully this will push up prices a little 😯

I try not to get too stressed about it though, it really is pointless worrying about something you can do little about.
It does bloody annoy me though.. i feel very proud of the job we do, think of all the thousands of tons of white goods we have all stopped being sent to the tip through our efforts.
We’re environmental heros we are

Well, youre now 2/3rds of the way to what you originally wanted petalpop 😯
Do you not think its maybe worth waiting a little while for the last installment (assuming it appears :rolls: )
I certainly dont blame you for going the court route but if its a long standing customer is it not worth hanging fire a little longer?
Cash up front for any future jobs from her of course 😯

Ive noticed this trend myself though.. previously good customers turning into sneaky fare dodgers.. they seem to think the economic conditions make this totally acceptable. Ars*oles. :rolls:

Odd that Comet is selling the ZWG1120M for £250 & the ZWG1140M for £430.
Look identical apart from a 200rpm spin difference.. will peeps really pay £180 extra for that ❓

What, it runs around your gaff with a feather duster for an hour ❓

Well, if ‘lux are using this thing as their entry level model & phasing out the recent sealed tub/mickey mouse PCB utter garbage they were selling then that can only be a good thing…i think.. time will tell of course, but it really, really cant be any worse.

It totally confuses me though, this rush to the bottom all the manufacturers are on, i mean i know its a highly competitive market out there but there really is a large proportion of the population who would pay a fair price for a machine designed like the old stuff.. i speak to them every day.

Really the only changes they would have to make is an electromechanical timer & a bolted tub with decent size bearings.. tried & tested stuff & almost guaranteed a 10 year lifespan. How much extra would this cost to build… 20 Euros ❓ ❓

Position it as a high quality, repairable machine in the £400/£500 price point & they would make a killing while at the same time rescuing the once highly respected Zanussi brand.. i mean think back to the quality of the washcraft machines.. i still see a couple that are around three decades old 😯 not everyone wants throw away tat.. i’m sure of it.

Fu*k it, im gonna start my own company manufacturing such machines… gonna call it ESI i think. 🙂

A bit optimistic by all accounts Mac. Your coffers may be swelled sooner than that

Well that is true.. if its an entry level one with a sealed tub then anytime after 18 months seems to be borrowed time for ‘lux crap these days 🙁

That is satisfying when it happens Rob, good to keep the old buggers going & shift a part which had grown roots.
Tried the same with an ancient Hotpoint 95 a couple of weeks ago, just needed an Armature & Brushes, spent ages explaining why it was worth hanging on to, arranged to call back in 48 hrs to complete the job..nice.

She phones me the next day to say hubby had just suprised her with a nice present…a new Zanussi (gawd ‘elp them :rolls: )
Cant bloody win can we? However, the callout was sent to me for my trouble, and i remained very polite because i simply cant wait till they phone me in…oh… 2 to 3 years i’d say with rumbling bearings… and i’ll at least try not to look too smug :rolls:

Trouble is, 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of appliances on sale out there are built to a ‘just good enough’ standard from an engineering point of view.. does spending £500 on a ‘Hotpoint’ make any more sense than spending £250 on one for example ❓ Probably not.

I can understand why people get confused & disillusioned, and just end up buying a throw away 🙁

Interesting that theyre suffering more than DSG in a recession because theyre usually slightly cheaper on average in direct comparisons.
Up here in Inverness the Bullsh*t awards have to go to the Comet floor staff though, had a call last week from a good friend inside Comet trying to buy a new Bosch washer.
one of the sales staff had apparently told her not to buy it ‘cos “Bosch use special screws & no one can fix them” 😯
She was just ready to pay for an Aqualtis before she double checked with me.. not sure what the ploy behind that was.. must have plenty Hotpoints to shift i guess :rolls:
