Cheers simon, thought it must be reed sw or summit wonky on little pcb, i’ll go back with a flow meter assembly brimming with confidence then 🙂

PS. Looking at your pic, i think we must be related 😯

Well, finally got a good look at this thing today, valve is definately opening, pump operates at start of prog & continues, then the valve opens & i can see the flow meter spinning like crazy when i shine my torch on it, but still the prog aborts after a short time filling, with 6 flashes, dont think it changes to 7 though 😕

Took diaphragm switch off side of sump & tested with meter, seems fine, closed circ when blown into. Tightened connections on flow meter plug.
Soooo.. i GUESS i i gotta try a new fill matrix/ flow meter assembly?? Only i want to cure it on second visit otherwise it just gets bloody embarrassing 😯

    Any further thoughts chaps..? Thanks.

Yep, i agree phidom, gotta use your common sense, no point replacing a perfectly serviceable spider. I find the WMA stylee seal set up a big help in that respect ‘cos on a regular spider with a Bronze, it is a little difficult sometimes to make your mind up if its still fit for purpose.

As long as theres no play when back together, i find WMA’s WF’s etc last just fine
I probably am too cheap Martin, & believe me, i would LIKE to get more for my efforts, but i find £100 is the cutoff point for most customers. Try for more & you get a copy of a saturday tabloid with comets or currys latest £169 ‘bargain’ thrust in your face :rolls: Waddy gonna do, better a modest earner than no earner IMO 😯

i have never done or attempted one because it looks like a lot has to be dismantled, so on that note how do you go about bearing change on a zanussi washing machine or even better a washer dryer. and how much do you charge for it??

If we’re talking split cab types of zan grazza, fairly straightforward IMO. 8 screws to remove when you get the lid off (extra one by the drain hose at rear on later ones) then once its split i take motor off, & tuck all the wiring out of harms way, then its just susp pins, hoses, door seal off front lip.

Prise the tub springs up with a thin screwdriver & try to support the drum as it releases. Then its just the pulley & the boring tub bolts to unwind & Bob’s yer uncle.
W/D’s are barely any more hassle, they just look it ‘cos of the extra gubbins in the way.
One tip.. the drum can be a pain to get suspended on the springs again if youre working alone like me 😥 so i use an old snapped 3 rib dryer belt through the spring holes, & do the one on the timer side first as the soap drawer really gets in the way.

As for price… you’ll make a bloody fortune by the sound of it!! 🙂 I can get ‘tween £65/ £95 on average, depending on spider condition, might sound like a lot of work but i do like to keep the older Zanussis going if at all possible 😉

Err, i think i’ve established its prob module PGS, tried new lock & wiring looked fine. Just wondered if there was anyone who found a way to do this economically, a configured pair of PCB’s aint really cost effective 😥

    Re: sons

Yep, i think we’re often viewed as guilty unless we prove ourselves innocent by the rellys of old folk.. pisses me off though, i ALWAYS go really easy on the obviously poor pensioners, & the typical suspicious, questioning son who invariably comes through the back door half way through the job, fairly winds one up 😯

Mind you, i cant really talk, reminds me of an incident a few years ago when my mother (in her 60’s) called me on my mobile to ask if she could borrow some cash to pay the ‘nice gentlemen’ who had just fitted copper sheeting to the ridge tiles of her bungalow 😯
Now, i didnt know the ins & outs of the theory that copper kills moss on tiles or whether it works or not but i did know that these cold calling wide boys were’nt getting a bloody penny!!

Arrived at the old birds house to confront these characters & was faced with a pretty aggressive duo once they realised they were’nt getting their £300 .
Anyway, one police car (fairly useless) & call to trading standards (more helpful) later, they gave up & buggered off (promising to ‘sort me out later’ ) :rolls: 🙂

We all protect our old mums though 😉

    Re: Pathetic!

Yep, bearing lock definately helps with marginal shafts Phidom, if i could get the punters to pony up the kinda cash grazzamongrel gets though, i would definately replace more spiders.
If only customers were more like one i had last week.. retired marine engineer, stopped his wife using the machine the moment his well trained ears detected a poory bearing & called me in.
Honestly, what a joy to do, completed in an hour ( 10 yr old Zan) 🙂

    Re: Pathetic!

Wish i could get that grazza, i find £80/£90 is about as much as they’ll stand 🙁 thats supply/fit bearings only of course. Luckily WMA’s WF’s etc usually survive with the spider fit for reuse i find.. helped by the fact we dont have a Bronze to worry about of course.

Make sure theres no play in the shaft once back together though, i found the 30mm set up particularly wont cope with any, one i had a couple of years ago with a hint of play i thought i would get away with lasted just over a month.. 🙁

    Re: Pathetic!

PS, if it STILL wont move, i very occasionally resort to my Dremel & mini grinding discs, kinda slow & smelly (the job, not me) but once you get a couple of good slots in the ring it will eventually give up.

Of course all this wouldnt be needed if the bloody punters would call us earlier.. but do they ever?? :rolls:

    Re: Pathetic!

Nah, blowtorch, havnt managed to melt the drum yet, but go canny of course 😉 I find a good heating, tip it on its back & liberal spray of WD40 round bearing ring works well.
If its really stuck, i leave it on its back for a while for the oil to penetrate & then heat it again (the alloy) a decent drift with an edge that catches the bearing edge is essential of course.. then grab yer biggest hammer & think of the taxman, ex wife, etc.. 😉

    Re: Pathetic!

Phidom, for WMA’s just heat up the alloy sleeve & bash the f*ck out of the outer bearing ring, never fails IMO. 😉

Re: Zanussi ZWF 12070W Continuous pump

Attended a late zan today, cant remember mod but continued pump running was what i was faced with, refused to do anything else.
Drum was totally empty as far as i could see, bit of a head scratcher 😕

pulled press sw pipe off & off she went.. turns out ball float in sump had split in half & was keeping press sw pressurised. Machine obviously couldnt start till it detected a clear sump. Worth a look 😯
