If any cap start motor will only run with a push & the drum is free then i think its safe to say a new cap will solve your prob, most caps seem rather short lived nowadays.

Your local motor factors will have repair paste suitable for metal, rocker. Most seem to work well ive found.

ParticipantRe: Aldi LED Headlight
The wifes gynaecologist buys them by the box phidom 😉 Must admit though, i go through torches like nobodys business, use one practically every day peering into some gloomy appliance, best one i ever had was maglite..though they should be good for the price.. but usually i end up loosing the buggers & the general public do seem to like a free maglite, cos i’ve never had one back :rolls: Maybe have a look at your Aldi one.

The only reason i can think of for the repair business being slow despite new machine sales being down as well, is people simply doing the easy stuff themselves (or getting someone they know to)
Have been noticing a definate drop off in drum paddle calls, door handles, hinges, blocked filters.. the easy stuff.
Tomorrow, i have a WMA bearing job & a late Hotpoint with a board comms error displayed ( wont tell ’em it prob just needs a cable wiggled 😯 ) no coincidence that both jobs could be perceived as ‘tricky’ methinks.
Oh well, at least i’ll clear over ton.. happy days. 😥Madmac

All i can say is thank god ‘er indoors (well outdoors mainly) has a good job with a steady income, not good for the male ego of course, but she’s the one keeping the ship afloat at the mo 😳
I sure HOPE this game turns around when the economic slump has passed, but to be honest i’m worried white goods repairs are going slowly but surely out of fashion in the publics eyes.
Sure hope i’m wrong though 😯Madmac

Yep, & if the press sw doesnt detect a pressure change when its doing this that can cause abort prog i’ve found.

Oops, was a little tipsy in the wee hours of thiis morning.. pay me no heed 🙂
Rolf, i wouldnt have a guilt trip about getting £100 for a repair, the customer i described above was aware of Indesits £99 deal but choose to use a local indy..me :tup:Have to agree with your point on the panel price though, & the VAT increase due at the end of the year (or is it start of2010?) will not help our cause. The problem with these jobs is theyre always 2 visit affairs, & for that reason sometimes simply not viable 🙁

£100 was swallowed for above repair too p45 😯 Even asked me back to replace totally unreadable LCD facia display.. think she fancies me.. but like i say, i agree with the OP’ Indesit group stuff is good business if youre dealing with the right class of punter 😯 😉

well Rolf, we cant be choosy these days, thats for sure, whatever makes us a crust.
Latest Hotpoint job..WD865.. under 2yrs old.. posh bird washing her shooting & fishing clothes with added waterproofing fluid in machine 😯
Frothed so much it leaked over the module.. Hope Tony at EMW doesnt have a fit when he sees the exchange!
And i thought these induction motor machines would do us out of work!! Nope, plenty for the canny engineer i’m thinking 😉Madmac
ParticipantRe: Has qualtex inmproved on their bosch brushes?
Yep, i always give motor com’s a tickle with a ceramic stick, theyre always that bit quieter when you do so i’ve found.. which must be a good thing 😯
Martin, i would disagree with your point about com sticks only being good for smoothing ‘tramlines’ on commutators, i’m sure you remember the gen Hotpoint armatures which came with a dusting of ceramic powder on the com, no tramlines on a new armature so that can only have been meant to bed in the brushes.. worked too, IMO 😉

Posting them back to Holland shouldnt have been needed spimps, your contract was with the retailer you bought them from.
