Take your point Martin, but i’ve a rather lazy lady customer who obviously hasnt heard of a washing line & manages to block her condenser every 3 months or so. This is my fault of course. :rolls:

Its called dumbing down to please the ignorant masses.. bit like the Saturday night TV schedule. 😯

ParticipantRe: Public Help forums
I think, L.J, in the grand scheme of things, the amount of work lost to the public forums is tiny when you consider the population of the UK.
And as Ken says, the ‘type one’ customer is usually one who, if he cant fix it himself, slings the thing on the tip. From an environmental viewpoint then, i would rather the machine was fixed by its owner, & Currys, Comet, or Argos etc, denied a sale 😉

Jim.
Dont i know it! was sick of snapping bits doing Hotpoint & Zanussi bearing jobs (spoils the profit margin 😉 ) so ‘invested’ in a Halfords pro set with lifetime guarantee :rolls:
Very first outing trying to undo that tight (admittedly hellish tight & sealed with threadlock stuff) Torx pulley bolt on a late Zanussi, & the fekkin thing snapped with relative ease, leaving me with a machine in bits & no time that day to storm back to Halfrauds.. professional my arse!! as Jim Royale might say 😉Madmac
ParticipantRe: Fun reading.
Often have a look through these comments on comets site, a right laugh some of them 🙂 Hopefully it will put people off buying that chinese crap, & fair play to comet for leaving the punters to tell it like it is.
Still doesnt excuse them for stocking this dross in the first place of course! :rolls:Madmac
ParticipantRe: where would our trade be…..
Yep, i have to look back to the 90’s in my records to see a 7 or 8 job a day workload, been doing the garden this morning & will head out after lunch to do 3 jobs 😯
I must admit i quite like blocked pumps, broken door handles, little holes in plastic drums etc because theyre usually fixable 1st visit, an advantage in my area of scattered population. In these times of short replacement cycles many parts simply aint getting the chance to wear out before the machine is scrapped so god bless the careless owner, they put food on our table 🙂

ParticipantRe: Free Estimate.
Absolutely right Andy, its the only way to work, & 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of people appreciate it… as for the other 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} :rolls: Well, when they ring back after three years, they’re usually shocked i have such a good memory 😯

ParticipantRe: ISE and Wessex FM
Thanks for the info Ken, complete installation would likely be needed if i’m right about the type of customer who would go for ISE, professional types & retired with cash types i’m guessing! & theyre usually clueless with DIY.
Maybe thats a generalization & i would be interested in other peoples experiences, i do have a decent garage to the side of the house but it can get a little damp but it would hold several machines no problem.
Hmm, maybe thats my best bet if i could get the dampness sorted & beef up the security it might just work 😯Would rather the £60 was in my pocket TBH 😉
