Earth fault or short circuit on appliance, time for an engineer I’m afraid. Unplug for safety until you get an engineer.

    Re: work car or van

I have always been a fan of VW Transporters.
Just changed mine this year as the old one was 10 years old. The thing is that VW’s are still worth something after 10 years comapared to a Ford Transit, I was fighting them off with a smelly stick when I sold it, V dubs are turned into surf vans so it’s worth looking after them.
Returning aroung 35mp combined. 104PS (bhp?)though they say the 140 does better MPG, £115 road tax
The new VDubs can shift, a bit too fast as I think I may have been nabbed by the “Cash Cow” speeding camera today, just 200 yards off a dual carriageway doing 60, 50 limit for vans 😥

    Re: Hotpoint 7822 dishwasher

I see where you are coming from Jim.
Quote from the manual you forwarded

    “All models unless specified”

“The total fill time amounts to one minute but is interrupted by the rocker switch each time 1.6litres has entered the sump, this in conjunction with the rotation of the timer will give either 3.2 or 4,8 litre fills as shown on the sequence chart”
Allthough the sequence charts for 7822’s shows a 60 sec fill time 😕 not the first time a manual would have mistakes

Any less fills would either mean the sump hose is gunged up? Or the float micro s/w is sticking?
Had the sump hose of to give it a good clean, clean as a whistle as is the rest of it 😕 Timer motor is stopped when filling so it doesnt look like switch 😕 but does the two fills are less than the prescribed minute

Not that it did them much good when they did, after all it raised the pressure switch as faulty.
Because we dont have the laptop we would delve into the problem deeper. Now if you and I spotted a blown track on a PCB the alarm bells would ring that there may another fault that caused it, as Martin did
How did the machine “megger” out Martin on your visit? 😉

    Re: Work Offer, Sort Of…

Had the same phone call today from Julian Radley did use your name as sanctioning the work offer, Ken.
He spoke to my wife/seretary and from what I can gather if the repair is carried out they are not bothered if the invoice is totally accurate, so I am a bit cautious particulary as it likely to create fraudulant claims and link the WTA to malpractice, not to mention the credibility of my business.
I have seen and heard of the dubious practice before from these businesses where they are sent in to evaluate the repair only to “write it off” as BER, and as an extra they are in a position to supply replacement appliances, so one inspection charge and another slice of the cake from a sale. Sure beats repairing them, dont even need anyone qualifed to do the inspection

Jury’s still out for me, as for how the WTA react to their methods is another question
