Hi Mike
Just a thought I wonder if the fridges have had an Ignition of gases not an explosion

The interiors of fridges are vacuum formed from a single sheet of plastic, if its heated up again it tries to return to its original state i.e. flat sheet. So I get the impression that there may have been some sort of heat source involved with the fridges, whatβs puzzling is that there were two. A picture would have been good even to show Hotpoint

To be honest Mike it’s not a problem I have come up against, not with Hotpoints that is. A while back Whirpools were noted for the liner to become “unstuck” from the foam insulation, symptoms were “bubbling”of the liner on back panel and eratic temperature control, one knackered fridge
Where is the liner collapsing on the Hotpoints? could you sacrifice one of them and cut the liner out to see if there is a problem behind it. Could there be anti-condensation heaters in the insulation that has caused this? Until someone from Hotpoint confesses to a problem then its probably a case of waiting, “it will come out in the wash” as they say

ParticipantRe: LG Smart Appliances
So do you need a refrigeration engineer or a computer engineer when it goes wrong? Im the former and I aint going out to one of those.
So it’s a LG monopoly, their engineers only, I wonder if they can find enough intelligent candidates for training? especially with the youth of today πmaltheviking

Shame it’s not a shudder of fear across Hotpoint/MerloniInteresting that Hotpoint say “The issue first came to our attention in 2009”
Stange how it has only now filtered down the line to the public and ourselves in the trade, how many more unseen and known about problems are lurking out there? :rolls:maltheviking

Complete unit I’m afraid, check to see if the socket that this plugs into (behind spray arm post)is not worn or damaged as you may need one of these as well part no 481241818341

helo_75 wrote:known issues
name it
faulty selectors not selecting right programme
spontaneously combusting tubs
door locks blowing core boards for no reason
low insulation on heaters causing e3 (VERY COMMON)
poor motors that go bang for laughs
unpredictable fault code of e05 (thermistor faulty/broken wires)
oh, and the worst one, which i see a lot of, is obstructed pressure vessel which is a pig to clean out as its integrated into the tub
Pretty standard then πmaltheviking

ParticipantRe: Beeping Bosch
Yes
Bit like the old Hotpoints, customers being a bit heavy handed slaming it shut. Check the catch on the door as well to see if it’s “lining up” with da hole in da lock -
