Update. π
Not a blockage, turned out to be the diverter valve, disk inside heater box has sheared off, looks as if the spindle that it is mounted on has crumbled away.
Anyone know if this is a common fault or is there a known reason for this to happen? π

ParticipantRe: Creda 48149V 41100084 built in oven
I have the wiring for Diamond H 40ER101C1 and 41ER101, I think the connections should be similar you may be able to work something out or for future reference.
41ER101. Diamond H to Strix
2 To 2
P1to P1
4 To 4
4A(n) to S2
If the 40ER101C1 is replacing either a Strix or Ego then the wire previously connected to terminal 4 should now be connected to Terminal 4A on the Diamond H
The rest are 1 for 1Hope this is of some help they can be a pain to swap sometimes.
If you have an account with Parts Centre, give them a ring they might have the relevent info.maltheviking

Low temperature washing every time (40d), Hairdressers boil a lot of towels regulary, machines stay spotless. Interesting how its mainly Hotpoints that fail, all those cavities in the support. π

Have you checked for a split in the spray arm? I have had this. A split can also throw water over the front lip and leak π

Aye squadman, pigs will fly before this happens π Life would be easier though. Elux obviously get a good return for their disk as we can all order the right spares and repair more appliances rather than scrap them. Hotpoints share of the market would make it viable for them also, they have always considered the spares market to be good revenue. π

ParticipantRe: CREDA W200FW
Update of fault. May help
This is basically an WMA series machine.
Fault observed… end light stuck on and machine wont start.
Fault was traced to the start, tactile switch on the PCB. One of the solder joints on the switch was OC.
I have come across this fault before, you may come across the whole switch broken of the board.
The reason for this damage is down to the start button on the console panel, being pushed to hard by the customer AND at an angle. This makes the machine difficult to start and eventually damages the tactile switch on the board. Poor design really. πYou will need good eyes or a magnifing glass to see how well you soldered the switch π π

The cowboy element will always be there, albeit reduced these days, but still, we’ll never be rid of them much as I wish we were.
So how do you prove that you’re better?
I donβt think that I need to prove that I am better my customers do it for me. I am trying not to be big headed about this, but if you are no good then you will be found out sooner than later, especially in a close-knit community that I work in.
From your comments I assume that you are pretty much anti-establishment which is fine, I have no issue as I agree with Groucho on institutions, but it’s something we all have to deal with like it or not.
I am sorry if you misunderstood my comments but I am not anti-establishment. My cynicism comes from dealing with politicians, who in my opinion are out for what they can get for themselves, which is human nature. There are of course individuals, who call it straight but few and far between. Most just give you βlip-serviceβ to what they think you want to hear.
But if you know who they are it’s easy to put a spanner in the works for them.
Have you ever tried to put the spanner in the works? I tried with the Trading Standards after I had to attend a machine that had been set on fire by a “cowboy”. The T/S advise did the customer to sue, which he did successfully. As for stopping him trading they could only advise him that he may be in the wrong trade!!! BUT they would throw the book at him if he killed someone. Try explaining that to he bereaved family.
Expecting customers to understand is not on the cards, as they won’t, ever. Unless there’s a standard by which they are aware that you have to operate and, about now, the best that they can hope for is that you are an “agent” for someone or other which gives some air of credibility.
A few years ago I was invited to join a Quality Guild who would promote your business and give you an “air of credibility”. When I looked into who had already signed on I came across a building firm who name was the laughing stock among tradesmen and well known for poor quality work. Further investigation revealed that the father of the said building company had set up this guild. I was pleased not to have been part of that guild. So please forgive me being a bit sceptical about your last paragraph. π π

Thanks Jim
I had been given duff info it was a A1B16,
I have sorted the job out today, coins in pump! interestingly fault “05” points to the pressure switch, not a jammed pump.

No one has picked up on “ultrazapps” comment ” and the local taxi driver has just unblocked a drain pump for a Β£10 (Beer Money for Friday night).
I wish I could afford to work for beer money, less tax, Β£10 wouldn’t cover itI apologise to my customers when I give them the invoice, I usually say the repairs have cost this much but the goverment has charged you for my services, (VAT)

iadom wrote:Well I am certain that I would be in that category, however, I am 58 years old, any attempt to get funding at my age would almost certainly be laughed at. I have no ‘paper’ qualifications, learning ‘on the job’ with the early help of Hotpoint training schools, I have not advertised in any shape or form for over 22 years, with a busy work load all of the time, I must be doing something right. I would find it very difficult to take a sustained period of time away from work and the costs involved, even if Β£2,000 is an upper, ‘guesstimate’ , would give me cause to wonder if it is a worthwhile exercise for an ‘old git’ like myself.
Well said Jim! πmaltheviking

kwatt wrote:Mal, where did the whole quango thing come from? If a quango is formed it won’t be by us but it would be forced by government. Not a lot we can do about it really as we are currently totally unregulated and have no governing body that represents enough of the trade to make the slightest difference to any imposed legislation.
Oh and the taxpayers would foot the bill.
You and I are already paying tax. (I hope)
Sorry to use the word Quango but I am generalising. I am ( re-prase )WE are sick of what has beeen enforced upon us since Thatcher days, mostly European. I cannot believe that any governing body will not have an acountant that will insist on making a profit, at my expence, sorry my customers. (yes I am part Scotish!!!)
There is a current issue about the “Cumberland Sausage”and can it still be called that. My local butcher cannot understand why the confusion, his sausage’s have always been “Cumberland sausages” for generations, why does he need legislation to call it that, if you dont want it then dont buy it, Its still Cumb. S. BUT there is a highly paid Quango (loosley phrased) who are being funded by tax payers trying to stop him.
With all the trepidation between disparate parties in this trade, well, I don’t think I have to tell you the chances do I of any one organising anything meaningful? That’s where we’re a bit different
Me, I’d love to see a proper certificate as it would give anyone entering this industry a chance even if they left but I think the current NVQ is too limited in its scope to accomplish that. However it is a start. But here’s a thought for you all, we know that Europe and UK government wants existing workforces upskilled and qualified, that’s a simple fact. We also know there’s some cash in the system to do that (getting it is another matter altogether) and that’s also fact.
So, let me ask you, what’s the eassiest way to get everyone to upskill in ANY profession? You see, every industry, trade or whatever would likely go through exactly the same tedious, torturous arguments and discussions we’ve seen on here on the subject, but in the end it comes down to doing one simple thing…
You make it a legal requirement and then there’s no choice, no debate and little argument. Everyone simply must comply.
K. I wondered who would bring up your last para.!!! But thats where it will end up, and it will have to be privatly funded.(Prescott/Brown) Probably overseen by Regional Assemblies(England) in Scotland you may have something different.
OK if there is European money available, could it be used to fund our upskilling and not be passed on to our customers? they already pay increased levels of stealth tax.
