” Whats that for mister, whad’yer doin mister, why aren’t you speaking to me mister, ” then the little blighters start poking around in your toolbox whilst mummy dear keeps saying “don’t do that” and they take no notice of her,…….. carefully closing the toolbox lid on the fingers usually works. 😈
reminds me of the day this dimwit of a child about 13-14 years kept picking up my megger, after I asked him to put it down for the third time I decided to show him how it worked. Hold these two wires young man I said.:zap::twisted:

ParticipantRe: Indesit / Hotpoint dishwashers
Here we go again, this subject seems to have reared its head a few times recently.
The top and bottom of it is that this series of D/W is so poor in its design, and Indesit/Hotpoint know it. They must be able to see the call rate their engineers are doing to these models.
They changed the first attempt of the over flow system (two vents at the front of the tub) only to replace it with the “turret”. A splash guard over the turret may go a long way to resolving the problem. Why have an antiflood system that immerses the motor?, the motor and all electrics should have been designed to be above the flood level.See this link for past info

There we go again, what happened to the ten year guarentee of spares after a model was dicontinued? We old boys rembember, “when I was lad”
Maybe we should all ring Hotpoint Customer Service and complain, they might get the point, there again we would have more chance of making a chocolate tea pot work. 😆 😆maltheviking

What the hell one more will not make much a difference , we have managed to sell off the rest of British industry to foreign companies, thats why they call us “Treasure island” Personly, if I was in government, I would not allow foreign companies to trade under well established UK/British trade names, not unlesss everything they manufactured was made here, AND THE PROFITS STAYED HERE.maltheviking

.I also re-build p/unit if the support tube is still okThe only flaw in that is that the support tube is the weakest part of the PU. 😥
Not to mention the poor poor quality bearing on the input shaft( pulley) that collapses and lets the box spew oil out. They hived the production of the PU out to an engineering firm, who tried to re-invent the wheel, they changed nearly every part in the gearbox. Why fix it if it aint broke.

andy_art_trigg wrote:They were vastly overpriced. Very good, my wife loves ours – but the high price was for the technology and revolutionary design rather than build quality which was decent but no £1000’s worth. I think some of the design was very good, particularly the door seal. Also the quickest wash times I’ve come across.
I have always been of the opinion that Dyson are a very good marketing company that just happened to sell vacs and washers. 😉

Or equally as good, a plastic Biro. Although I might get round to a rubber sledge hammer

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool ARG 420/R
Thanks Bryan
The back panel seems “sound”, no bubling etc, I would have expected to have found a “cold spot” if the insulation/ gas system had broken down, but all seems fine, thats what is so puzzling. My theory is that if the evap. has come adrift from the liner, this would probably mean that and the stat. phial is not in direct contact, giving a false reading.

ParticipantRe: Interesting web site
I came across this site by accident, its hidden away and they probably dont know its still there. Or they have left it up and running for there own reference, what-ever it’s handy. Leave the site up and running please, if anyone from the company happens to see this.

ParticipantRe: Hoover HP6 120M UK, no heat?
Sounds like the Hoover chap was working “live” if there was a flash!!!!! When did Hoover fit the console? and was the fault there after this? As you know a “flash” will usually have done some damage. If I remember right the board has relay for the heater, have a look for the usuall dry joints.
Oh, its good to know there’s more than me with dodgy eyes, I have to use a magnifing glass to see these components on PCB’s. Should have listened to my mother, she said I would go blind!!!!

Did most of these checks first time, tacho, wiring loom. Tested the motor at its terminals and at the other end of the loom.
