ParticipantRe: Bit of advice re washing machine leak
Darned if you do, danged if you don’t, but unfortunately in this case the customer will likely win the argument. 🙁
Meanwhile, best you contact your Public Liability Insurers and give them the low down and ask their advice on your next move 😉

How about sending us a photo of it? Does it have an SES thread?

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWG 329 1100 won’t drain
It’s a question of tipping the machine backwards abot 45 degrees and accessing the hose from underneath 🙁
Bit tricky and do make sure you UNPLUG THE MACHINE FIRST!!! :zap:
I would seriously suggest he call back and sort it for you though as it sounds as likely he has overlooked this problem that may well be have been in place all the while 🙁

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWG 329 1100 won’t drain
You have tried the gravity drain method and proved there is no blockage, but with the hose lifted above water level and set to spin out will it not pump then?
If it won’t then clearly the pump isn’t working due to something caught in it or the electrics to it not connecting for some reason? You should therefore contact your repairman and get him to come back and sort it under the terms of his guarantee, being as it has only recently been replaced!

ParticipantRe: Bulb for Matsui 170TC microwave
Unfortunately replacing microwave bulbs should only be carried out by specialist help and are not usually supplied outside the trade 🙁
If however you know what bulb type is required we could point you to a supplier?

I believe the pump on these old machines is the ‘Shaded Pole’ type?

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWG 329 1100 won’t drain
Set the machine to fill for a few moments til there is a gallon or so of water in the drum. Then take the hose connection off from under the sink and into a bucket instead. Set the machine on a drain cyle and see how the flow runs from the pipe (normal rate is about 8 gallons a minute so it should take seconds to empty)
You could also try blowing down the pipe to check it is clear of obstruction!
The belt coming off is a worry though, unless it simply needs retensioning by adjusting the motor bracket slightly. If the tension is good and it still comes off then the drum bearings or the drum pulley fixing could be loose.
Also if you have got something like a sock caught in between the inner and outer drum that would account for the belt coming off AND the reason the water isn’t draining 💡

ParticipantRe: vat
Another example:
A manufacturer produces a WIDGET and charges his distributor £10 + VAT =£11.75 and Customs & Excise (C&E) cash in the £1.75 on the deal.
The Distributor adds on his mark-up of the Widget (say 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) and charges his Wholesaler £13.00 + VAT = £15.28 the C&E cash another £2.28.
The Distributer charges his Retailer (again with a mark-up of 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) £16.90 + VAT = £19.86 for the same Widget and C&E cash in the VAT element of £2.96.
Likely as not the retailer sticks a mark-up of say 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on the Widget you wish to buy at £21.97 +VAT =£25.81 and the C&E get another £3.84.
Throughout the entire chain no-one has made any profit on the VAT element except C&E, who for doing diddley squat have acquired a total of £10.83 and all of which has been paid by you the consumer 🙁
…just as Clivejameson states..!

ParticipantRe: bosch motor connector link
The part you need forms part of the complete wiring harness (480016) and the only realistic solution is to patch-up the damaged wires yourself with link wiring and tape it clear!
Modules are repairable via EMW or QER 😉
(I see now the om was a typing error for Tom after all 😆 )

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFR2466gb/01 weird fault
I had a similar fault a short while back on a WFR2460 (display went blank for a while) and it was the brushes causing a slight earth leak. Cleaning the commutator and replacing the brushes sorted it 😉

ParticipantRe: New appliance pricing
Yes Evan Davis made that report back in January this year. Doesn’t make good reading I have to say as in the L-O-N-G term especially in our trade we are entering a BLACK HOLE and there is no escape.
Third world economies will benefit at the demise of our local industry that cannot compete with China and the Far East. They work 10 hours days and take home just $1 to feed a family of 5. It works for them and they love it.
Try feeding a family of 5 in the UK for $1 and you will see where I am coming from here 🙁
