No problem to get a seal but your problem is the state of that drum shaft!
The inner race will be tricky to remove off that very badly pitted drum shaft to say the least. But your main concern is the drum shaft collar. That is damaged and pitted also beyond a viable re-useable state. Therefore you need a new drum shaft/inner drum unit to complete this job AT ALL.
My advice is BIN THE LOT MY FRIEND and buy another machine :lesson:

No, ‘lumping’ is a term that means companies that compete in the same type business, agree amongst themselves what they are going to charge for their products and services :lesson:
Common practice among the big boys, frowned on by the Government but rife in all industries.
Dave_Conway wrote:Martin, we had a conversation last year at Sibson if you recall highlighting the regional and customer base issues that affect the rates that can be charged, which started off as an engineer’s salary theme.
My post was no critisism of what individuals charge at all. No need for anyone to justify their charges here either. My comment was that clearly we in this business are the salt of the earth in more ways than one and rightly so, this topic proves it 😀

Fascinating reading, I cannot believe how modest some of your charges are? To say appliance repairers generally are “the salt of the earth” is a gross understatement at best. There’s Lawrence prepaired to drive 30 miles through the leafy lanes of Suffolk for just 50 quid. Pat in the garden of England sticking motor brushes in for a pawltry 35 quid. Phidom actually takes the drum out to fit a door boot and then only charges 55 quid, bargain.
Down in Oz “lumping” is banned! And in some parts of the UK there are others who will not get off their beachtowel for less than 50 quid :rotfl:
My God!..thanks for the reading….I feel much better now 😀
Must dash off now for anothers days ‘hard graft’ ……..HI HO, HI HO!!!!

oxy-acetaline? angle grinders? chisel bashing?…whatever will Yurtesen make of all this?
Sounds like a bad day at Santa’s Toy Factory to me 🙄
What may be a simpler solution to his problem is simply a stout pair of ‘Mole’ grips and can of WD40, a firm but steady pair of hands and a lot of luck :rotfl:

No! That’s the cover I meant. Is the pump clear then and free to rotate ?(It is a permanant magnet impellor drive so it will appear a bit jurky as you rotate it)
If that is clear and it pumps out most of the water, then it is likely your drain out arrangement may be allowing water back into the machine (assuming of course the drain shares the sink outlet?)

Steve,
Take a real close look at the sump, take off the pump cover (instructions in the user booklet) I suspect there’s something caught or restricting the pump outlet.
Careful!! If its broken glass you may not see it until it’s too late :lesson:

How nice of you to start this topic off, however throughout the entire UKW site we have reams and reams of the stuff in the same or a similar vein, just a different heading that’s all 😀
I don’t wish to encourage too many here in prophesying “Doom & Gloom” as I have heard it all before, we have heard it all before. What I will say to those that have certain ‘misgivings’ about the current trend the industry appears to be heading towards. Is to think DIVERSIFICATION by that I mean that if you think for example, Hotpoint (as so many seem to use them as such at the moment anyway) are going down the the pan. Don’t touch them! turn away and look at Zanussi, maybe even Bosch as a good source of income.
There will always be machines in this world, they will always fail at some point. The trick is realising the market and capitalising on its potential and in order to do that you need to stay in touch. Keep you ear to the ground all the while, stay close to UKW for vital day in day out info, otherwise you be left holding the baby….up the creek without a paddle and all that…. so you will 🙁
Finally, one more idiom to ponder on:- IF YOU CAN’T BEND WITH THE WIND, VERY SOON YOU’LL BREAK AND FALL 🙁

When you do eventually remove all 8 torx bolts, gentle tap the spider clockwise about an inch to release the little metal wedge that is under the bottom left-hand spider arm.
Do not try and lever the spider away from the s/steel tub ‘cos you will put a hole in it for sure and whatsmore Goatboy will give you a good kicking. Always swear in Italian whilst your doing it ( I can give you a few via PM if you like :rotfl: )
The bearings and seal will knock off the spider easy, but do put loads of high speed grease between the oil/water seal and front bearing as they can squeak a treat at 1600rpm after you’ve nailed and elastoplasted it back together 🙁
Migliore di fortuna!!!!!!!!!!!
