Sadly we on this site are not into Domestic Boilers. I would advise you contact your local plumber or indeed a plumbers merchant (Like Plumb Center for example)

Crikey, no, in a word :con:

Never in over 40 years in the trade have I heard that one before 😯

A cold water inlet valve is not very costly at all to replace if you think that would cure the problem? I also know that the blue and red pvc inlet hoses can pong a bit when new, but not to any extreme, and clear after a few gallons have passed through.

So I’m stumped beyond that I’m afaid πŸ™

    Thanks for that Paul,

Well I’m pretty certain that the washing machine and/or it’s cold inlet hose connection will not cause “backwashing” to your sink tap.

The problem more likely due to some weird plumbing configuration under the sink, possibly due to low water pressure? Is that sink tap direct from the mains and do you have a good water pressure? Or is it fed off your house ‘Header Tank’ in which case the pressure will be an issue here πŸ˜•

    Hi Paul,

I don’t fully understand that statement πŸ˜• I take it you have a seperate cold feed pipe with stop tap that goes to the washing machine, possible a hot supply as well?

Paulkent wrote:Also no Hot water is getting through/being pumped.

Or maybe you haven’t a hot water supply πŸ™

Do you mean water inlet valves? ……..Yes indeed.

But do please clarify those points and I will see what the problem is likely to be πŸ˜€

    Loulou,

I doubt those engineers were from SERVICE FORCE (the approved repairers) were they? And can I suggest that unless you contact Service Force and ask, you may well get put off by other comments purely and simply because not only do they not want the job, but have’nt a clue about it or have seen one. They then simply (dare I suggest) spin a yarn to put you off πŸ™

Personally I reckon its just a slight leak that needs sorting and would be cheap to fix, by the right person/company πŸ˜‰

    Mitch,

It refers to a “Communication Error between Control Modules” πŸ™

In plain english that means a bad connection somewhere or dry joint :rtm:

    Hope that helps πŸ˜€

Nope, I quoted the worst case scenario to my customer though! I guess by now she has had it replaced πŸ™

The lesson learned for me here is that this vintage of machine made by Bosch/Siemens involved huge great PCB’s/Power Boards and fancy stepper timers. These have now evolved into smaller, cheaper, easier to diagnose as faulty and replace Timer/Module Units.

Using the latest direct equivalent as an example, the WFR2860. That has a small, compact Module Control Unit that is sofisticated in the extreme and very reliable to boot (albeit the programmes take forever to complete – try just setting one to DRAIN ONLY to see what I mean it takes 11mins 45 seconds πŸ™ )

Oh! and it doesn’t have the light that comes on in the drum at the end of the cycle…I guess they gave up on that idea 😐

    Jen,

The problem is that the pump will need some close attention. I would recommend contacting a local engineer to check it out for you. Should’nt be too costly to sort either πŸ™‚

    clandestine,

I sounds like the main Computer Board has failed I’m afraid πŸ™

It can be repaired here in the UK using :-
    http://emwelec.co.uk/

Otherwise a new board is very costly and may be uneconomical to repair πŸ˜₯ .

Then it’s not the motor or its capacitor at fault, or even the wiring. Unfortunately your timer is at fault I reckon πŸ™

    As Clive also suggests πŸ˜‰

Then it is likely the motors capacitor is faulty?…But first, does the motor just hum or is it completely dead?
