I would welcome back the old “2 tier system” or even 3 or more for that matter. I do so very much object to VAT on labour charges as my main gripe. To think I sweat my proverbials off, fight for every penny I earn and the VATman gets 17.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of all my labour!!!! :haier:
No s*d it, he’s getting no more from me 😀

There you go John, my friend Clive being more to the point I guess. 🙂 In my experience you can often free this off with the ‘hot water in the bowl technique’. Beyond that we cannot advise other than calling in an expert. Not a problem and easy to fix I’m sure

Jerry I think you have answered you own question here 8)
However F11 points nevertheless to a PUMP PROBLEM, I will leave you to do the maths on this 😉

John,
Fill a washing up bowl with hot water open the dishwasher door and pour it in the tub!

Why would this cause a burning smell?John,
The water inlet system could well be stuck through lack of use, long storage periods etc. You could try pouring a bowl full of hot water into the tub to try releasing it that way. Let it stand a while, then switch on.
The burning smell is the worry though and the reason I advise seeking expert help 🙂

Well blow me down! Even an old codger like me realises those reservoirs on dryers located at the top do have a pump to get the water there. But I didn’t realise many have an optional drain out kit as well 😳
But IMHO what an expenses, total fag and waste of time fitting one would be anyhow in many instances. For a start one would have to set it up close to a waste pipe anyway :con:

John,
Most likely the water inlet system is blocked or stuck open which simply needs an expert in to clear it for you. Check for an engineer in your area via our “Directories” listing 😉

Ozzy,
If you have proof of purchase Hotpoint may well replaced the Drum Assy under their 5 year parts guarantee. You pay around £90 for the labour in total.
If your machine is only 3yrs old it should well qualify, then give Hotpoint a bell 😉

I refer back to my previous post on the subject. Giving the customer the choice will always be a better option and number 2 gets my vote
kwatt wrote:in which case any control that we had is lost.
What control do you really need other than an established Advisory Council in place should their be any come back? Bearing in mind for a moment, we are trying to encourage more and more repairers to join. If then 5 members are in one area, throw the jobs up in the air to land fairly and squarely on the customers lap, there’s no more fairer way than that. 🙂
Unless that is seen to be done, you won’t recruit any in joining the system and certainly none would subscribe to a ‘random’ allocation that’s for sure. Also a point very much an important factor is simply that these days less and less chargeable work is coming out of it. Quote £50 call out and the customer runs a mile in the opposite direction and buys a new machine.

ParticipantRe: Which zanusi/bosch/ aeg condense dryers hav waste water
All condensor dryers drain the water into a reservoir within the machine. Most take the form of a large slide in container that can easily be emptied down the sink. Many have a warning light to tell you it needs emptying. 😉
But none have a drain pump waste system like a washing machine has, no point as there is little water to deal with anyway 🙂

A very nice chap by the name of simonb loaned me one of these a few months back, see : –

…and I must say I concluded it is only marginally better than no device at all but as much use as a chocolate teapot is for brewing a cuppa 😆
