ParticipantRe: HP DISHWASHER DF53
Actually the DF53 is a Creda made machine not a Bosch clone. Possibly the Heating Element is shorting to earth thus supplying a feed to the inlet valve 😉 Also the wiring loom is a suspect, access is tricky though 🙄

ParticipantRe: combined washer driers
Janet,
Washer/dryers are not the ultimate answer to laundry problems. They are indeed a compromise to having a seperate washing Machine AND Tumble Dryer. Far less efficient also, with more components likely to fail as well.
If you must buy one then look at the BOSCH range as a reasonable option!

Well they’re so similar aren’t they!
Sorry, you have lost me on this one 😕 Please explain a little 😳

Very seriously wrong that’s for sure, not like the ‘old days’ when Hoover found a design fault and produced cheap but effective mods eh?
Dave_Conway wrote:Is you’re customer seriously considering having the job done ?
No way now! Not faced with that option 🙁 In fact you can get the Drum Shaft c/w Pop Rivets, but not the Back Bearing Plate it sits on, so can’t even ‘patch it up’ either. It’s standing in line with all the other 18month old machines at the tip now 😯

ParticipantRe: Creda 17076 thermistor wiring
Seamy,
Do you really need a t/stat? As I mentioned earlier, they usually just have bad spade terminal connections that fail. Cut back broken wire and BINGO!
Hopefully 😉

ParticipantRe: What is the most useful tool in your toolbox?
To clear those blocked Fabric Conditioner channels, the use of a 12″ long ‘Cable Tie’ stuffed up the pipe, clears it in no time. Even quicker if you use the Cable tie whilst the machine is filling on the final rinse 😉
🙂 🙂 Stay tuned for more blindingly obvious tips & tricks coming your way 🙂 🙂

Bob,
May I on the behalf of all the guys that replied make an apology to you 😳
We boobed, sorry 😥 Having read your original posting we should have spotted the fault there and then. Indeed “0.5 Megohms” is well out of order. Even 5 megohms would not be good (although it would pass an electrical safety inspection) HOW CAN WE HAVE NOT SPOTTED THE DECIMAL POINT POSITION IN YOUR STATEMENT…????
A thousand apologies my friend and we are pleased at least you have got it sorted at last 😀Martin

Dave_Conway wrote:I checked the paper manual for this model and versions with timer number 904-2385-0? has a 40/50C thermostat part number 168234
Actually I too checked in my paper manual (5401050 Issue 2) listing a 17076 with a ‘410’ series Timer Control Board. So I too would have fallen on my face on this one, even with the manual on the van.
If it then does have a conventional Thermostat fitted, it most likely will be OK and just a connection has broken to it then hopefully 😉

They haven’t ramped up the price of the CD Rom again have they 😕

ParticipantRe: Creda 17076 thermistor wiring
As Dave said, the thermistor has only 2 black leads to it and not 3. No way does this production series of machine have a 3 lead Thermistor nor does it have a conventional thermostat. The part you were sent IS the correct part to cure the overheat problem, guaranteed!
If we are wrong do please tell us where the 3 wires go to on the Timer (terminal numbers that is?) as it cannot be a 17076!
