brian wrote:I’m told that the Partfinder CD is the most user friendly on the market. Would you agree ??
Yes definitely Brian, most user friendly. Just one small point though, using PartfinderII (issue1-haven’t got issue 2 yet) When you say look up a Hotpoint WM32W for example and click on the Part Description Box, then click on “Motor”, then view, it NEVER goes to the motor illustration (front panels I think from memory) why is that?
brian wrote:What improvements could be made ?? (And yes, I know cost is an issue…see earlier post’s)
Please can we have a ‘Technical Section’ by that I mean Wiring Diagrams, Sequence Charts, Error Codes & test setups etc. I don’t mean how to take things apart but the relevant technical info would be nice especially with Indesit/Ariston products.

‘Tis true they do but only for punters as 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the parts are not listed and they are then forced to phone Merloni’s ‘special rate’ 0870 numbers to identify the missing part numbers?
The ‘detailed’ parts illustration comes in .pdf format but with no part numbers….. Crafty eh?

Merloni’s ‘Labour only’ offer only extends to machines under 2 years old. Lots of WMA32’s are older than that and fully chargeable !

5:45pm (18/03/04) Just got a phone call from the Trading Standards Officer to say that so far I got glowing reports from those customers of mine he chose from my files and contacted at random for feed-back. My application looking good his end “What news from the CRB Check?” he asked.
“Sorry I said, all I know at this stage is that they have cashed my cheque!”
Good he said, we should get their report any day now in that case!
So far my application is moving faster for me than it ever did when I applied to join DASA and I earnestly believe, will have greater benefits!!

These have a special place in my heart, for all the wrong reasons:-

Cut my teeth on these darn things way back in this mists of time!
The top loading dishwashers were all in posh mansions in Henley, Ascot & Sunningdale.

Do you know I for one am delighted with the route BSH have taken in their web based information and spares ordering. I even get next day delivery on spares which they never used to before!
They even have a Technical Help Line, though very difficult as it’s always engaged for obvious reasons. We can only hope they tack a bit more info on their website to offset that problem, it would be perfect.
Brian at Merloni to be fair did stress that for the price of their new CD we are at least getting Hotpoint/Creda all included now so that’s a start. But I agree with you Dave, these manufactureres should take a leaf out of the E/lux TDS way of total information included in the package.
We can only hope they are listening/reading this?

ParticipantRe: Creda/Hotpoint Service Manuals?
Thanks to Dave Conway I am now the proud owner of a Hotpoint Aquarius WMA40/42/44/46 & WMA48 Service Manual. It contains priceless information inside, ‘Service Test Sequence Guide’, Error Codes, Fault Finding Charts, even a Wiring Diagram that shows where all the white wires go and where all the black wires ought to go.
My life will totally change for the better now I know that the Mains Filter Capacitance should read 0.47mf + 2x15000pF +or- 2{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} and that the ‘Final spin’ light flashing at the end of the cycle is perfectly normal if the wash load was found to be OOB…. You see..it’s what you know and all in the Manual.
Mind you, got to put my Services Charges up now to Merloni rates, Oh yes!

……and another thing!
Why don’t Merloni produce Trade Service Manuals for their product range? By making these available to us it will stop a great deal of animosity and resentment towards Merloni products AND more importantly for them, considerably more sales both in finished goods and trade spares!

ParticipantRe: Recons
Very interesting point Penguin. Years back I would only recon Bosch V449’s and V454’s and sell them on to Sheltered Housing, Small Guest Houses/Hotels and Pubs. Brilliant m/c’s with NO recalls and big profits, trouble was my supplies dried up and I gave up the recon business only for that reason.
I would love to know how you get hold of Bosch machines suitable for reconning? The WFF2000 series would be a brilliant example to resell, and AEG Lavamat 610’s are built like tanks!

OK hands up on this one!
I must confess I did visit the site and I was sorely tempted to buy a Bumper Sticker ! I thought “Hey what the hell, it’s all in a good cause anyway!”….
…………Suddenly I remembered a few months back, I had a bumper sticker!!! It read SAVE GAS!….F**T IN A JAR! It was stuck so fast on my bumper and was a bit of a crowd puller, THEN one night, someone knicked my bumper!

No! no! guys, thats far too cruel and fiddly.
Just pre-charge a small (say 8mf) capacitor with your megger!
Neat, simple, easy to carry and also very effective on moggies!
Money back guaranteed method…trust me!

Priceless knowledge indeed. Of course the Bosch Syringe can be adapted to fitting a short length of Inlet Valve/Dispenser type hose on it, and with its large water carrying capacity can blast clear blocked Bosch SMS and SGS series (Hotpoint also of course) water level systems!
