Well no big shocking scandal came out of my visit to Sir Tim Sainsburys place I’m afraid. They got back from skiing in Colorado last Friday and phoned GIAS on Monday last. GIAS said they couldn’t get a man out ’til Friday March 18th. They had been using the machine in the Gardeners Cottage meanwhile then his machine went belly up!
The up-shot of it was that the ‘Housekeeper’ suggested to Lady S that they call me. Which Lady S did and I went out there today and solved all their problems, put my stickers all all the appliances on the estate (10 in all) and charged them a very reasonable £115.60, which they paid out of ‘The Housekeeping Account’.
Sir Tim and Lady S were out at The Cheltenham Festival, apparently they have 2 runners in this afternoons events…….lovely!

Cor! You should see their indoor pool and gymnasium, cut into the hillside, glass walls with terrific views across the valley….lovely too!

Another priceless ‘must have’ tool in the van is my (don’t laugh now) Bosch Syringe. In case you really don’t know what I’m on about, it’s a bit like a huge hyperdermic syringe used for ‘sucking’ water and crud from hard to access places. (I said…don’t laugh, I’m being serious!)
(E.g. Sucking all the water out of a dishwasher tub sump to access the pump impellor. Pumping warm water through air pressure chambers to clear blockages without the need to remove chamber. (Brilliant for flushing clear Zanussi Manifolds) Clearing soap blocked fabric conditioner spray nozzles. Plus hundreds of other time saving uses.)They are still available from Bosch for around a tenner, the part number is: 340007.

Ken,
You hit the nail on the head precisely. That is exactly what those revealed facts will provide.
I had the same problem many years ago, which almost certainly affects most of us independant traders to this day, a blatant scam that is difficult to avoid. Namely, commissioning an ACCOUNTANT. The first thing they want to see is your accounts so far (naturally) then, they quickly assess for themselves the potential ‘annual accounting fee’ they can charge based on those figures. As your business grows from that point on their charges keep ramping up.
The way to avoid that is to appoint an accountant that charges a fixed fee irrespective of your annual turnover (not easy to find such an individual but they are out there…and I got one…not telling who though).
The same applies outside accountancy and the same rule applies…Keep your cards close to your chest, as there are cheats and robbers waiting for you to come along!

Now that is definitely OTT . Good heavens they will be asking your blood group and next of kin, maybe even sign over you house deeds for their safe keeping next!
No deal, go away pal the only reply.

Very little chance anywhere I am afraid John simply because it is not a part that has been in demand at all in the past so very very unlikely even wholesalers will have this old stock either!
Sorry

ParticipantRe: Disclosing Confidential Information
I think it is the norm for these days for most WP’s and trading partners to request this type of comprehensive information. I have had this type of questionaire given me many times. (One wholesaler actually has the cheek to ask: How much money will you be spending with us monthly?…how the blink do I know til I know what your selling mate!)
My recommendation is as you intimate, “Don’t tell ’em!”…if they want you to work from them or your business, they will have to suck it and see.
What the hell happened to the old adage…’Gentlemens aggreement?’ or the centuries old tradition of making a deal ‘on a handshake!’

Crikey! What are Merloni playing at (shooting themselves in the foot is my first thought) by stopping this kind of info to us in the trade?
Why don’t they realise that if you fully co-operate with the trade totally, more and more business will come their way. GDA came to that conclusion 15/20 years ago ( on second thoughts, perhaps thats why they tripped and fell with Merloni licking their wounds)
Any road up….Yes Dave, do please get me the Manual if you can, my address is on my www. or e-mail or pm or even tie it to a pigeons chuff as they know where I live (most of the c**p on my garden anyway!)
Keep smilin’ and many many thanks for the trouble, you shouldn’t.

ParticipantRe: Avatar Images
If anyone would like an ‘animated avatar’ doing for them, I am willing to make one (or try at least) for you. The main problem is the size restriction so nothing too complicated will work here.
Let me know by pm or e-mail only please.

ParticipantRe: Local Trading Standards Authority
Well my application to join is dragging on a bit but Trading Standards did warn the searches take up to 6 weeks or so! Funny part is that a government outfit in Scotland does all the searching. They have a website that shows the ‘on-line’ application form:-
http://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
I sent my application off early last month (Feb) so I should get their report back very soon. What I do know so far is that they must have received my application safely as they have cashed my cheque!

Of course in order to connect the two you will need a 3/4BSP-3/4BSP hose coupling as well!

ParticipantRe: indesit we14 fault code -H20
Denise,
I haven’t heard of error code H20 on one of these machines before, in fact the error messages are usually prefixed by the letter “F”. Having said that I feel it may well be a pumping out problem. A possible blockage to the pump, check behind the front ‘Kick Panel’ on the R/Hand side to access the pump.
I suspect the machine goes into an error default mode due to timing out whilst draining. Resetting the machine onto spin clears the problem in these cases.
Hope that helps?

Good point shane hadn’t thought of that! On the odd occasion I have even done 3 seperate appliances on the same call. Hummm, something to consider…????
Thanks for the input.
