Err? Excuse me butting in but was the OP subject matter about the installer/repairer responsible for the ‘integrity’ of ‘hard wired’ cookers and not about flexible/non flexible cable?

PVC cladding sounds posher than bits of cardboard I’ve seen folks use in the past.

Then time to get in there and check the components. The heating element THE most likely culprit. If you have no knowledge of dishwashers then I would recommend calling in a local expert as your best next move. 😀

A bit of detective work on my part and (I think?) the actual model number is :SHV55M03GB.
That number should be etched in the stainless inner door panel adjacent the door latch. If you care to check that and confirm I may be able to help you further?

The timer unit is located with its own spring clips. Unhook the clips each side and pull away from the fascia. No need to remove the glass fascia as all done within the control panel from the rear.

There is no such model number listed by Bosch. Are you sure of the make?

Replace the grill element is your best, most obvious solution. Grill elements can fuse rather dramatically as you have noticed but replacing it won’t cause problems TBH. Get your local repair person in to sort it and check the overall integrity of the appliance for greater peace of mind. 💡

The ‘door interlock’ device will be at fault and need replacing.

No chance fixing broken/brittle plastic. Only solution is replacement I’m afraid.
