    How do you know the repair cost will total £250?
    What happens if it costs even more once the repair work begins?
    In its 8 years service has it been flogged to death with daily wash loads?
    If money is of little concern then why ask? Go get a new one. 😀
    Personally speaking I would take the repair option, but then I couldn’t afford to spend over a grand on a new one anyway.

    The reed switch is located in the centre of the fill matrix. Costs about a tenner to replace.

    Dispenser shouldn’t open in a pre-rinse, so perhaps the Control Unit was never configured from when the BSH contractors replaced it. I will dig out the coding instructions if you pm your direct email address. 😀
